They DID release the dogs. The dogs are trained and was used to quickly track and find us. Not killing us eating our guts lols. :P But they did release the dogs.

Its a true story. Police had several complaints about us. And since we were so many we were considered a threat.
Still when your facing one of those dogs couple meters away from you, you are not very tempted to do any sudden movements. :P

I believe (not 100% sure) that they trained different dogs for different jobs, for example if it's a dangerous criminal with a weapon, they would release the dog that would bite his balls off. If it's a bunch of kids like Znote said, they would release dogs to chase them down and get them to the ground long enough for the police to catch up, then there's the search-and-rescue dog that searches for victims/criminals. I'm guessing they released #2 dogs on Znote, I may be wrong , don't flame too much if I am

I once got beaten up by a cop for telling him I was going to kill him in tibia :/
When I tried to resist he called for backup and said "Black guy attacking police officer" 4 seconds later there was 18 cop cars.. I mean c'mon im not even black..
Guess he was thinking of black knight :o

Here in Greece, if you get caught smoking weed you're just getting a greeting from the cops and then they ask you to give 'em some and voila! You're free.
