i wana know what is the meaning of compiling and how useful is it ?

when i change items's name from xml it says < cant load items.xml
i asked someone he said u have to edit item.otb and xml both
with one program but he did not tell me what is it ...

Because you're using the windows notepad.

so you need xml tools plugin
Notepad++ Plugins - Browse /XML Tools/Xml Tools 2.3.1 r764 Unicode Beta1 at SourceForge.net

items.otb can you open with otitemeditor

When you are editing the "Items.xml" all you have to do is use the notepad and edit the name / attributes and make sure the code is right ( check other items to see if you messed up ) you do not need to edit the items.otb just to change a name you obviously messed up the code. Maybe you missed a " or something.
