How to change the color of an existing sprite

First of all, I dont know where to make this thread, if its not here please say where or move it.

I want to know how hard is to change the color of an existing sprite. For example make a red djinn.
Anyone can explain me.how to do it?

It's mostly easy, but it depends the sprite.
You can just change the HUE from a sprite then get the sprite in other color scheme.

This Blue nexus (first) turned into cyan, green, yellow, orange, red, pink and "purple".

Though sometimes It loses some quality, so you have to change/improve it manually or use some other methods.
Yellow, Orange, Red and Purple aren't so good for example.

It's a bit more difficulty if you have more than 1 color in the sprite then you'll have to work with layers.
