So... As a select few of you may know, it's been about a year now with absolutely zero playable high-exp/rebirth-based ot servers that are worth playing.

forgottenl.se? I'd rather not insult the owner/team.
forgottenl.hopto.org? Scammer, crappy server.
spiderserver.no-ip.org? It has become EXTREMELY shitty. Rebecca starfire has been top level for at least 3 years.

So, I have thought about creating a new, 100% custom high-exp rebirth-based server for the small amount of people that actually enjoy playing such servers.

And as a bonus, I get to reduce the realmap players a little, because they are killing Opentibia as far as my opinion is concerned.

I'd like to see if at least a small amount of you people agree to this idea, because I know that a few people here enjoy playing high-exp servers over others. And know that I'm doing this mainly as a way to serve those who can't find a proper server to play on.

So, do give me your thoughts about it, and try not to be aggressive please.

I was thinking the same when I have been working on my playground server for a year now.
It seems that the high-exp/high-amounts-of-damage/ultra-fast-speeds all attract players.
If people loved ForgottenL (I still have no idea why), then I can take it a step further and make it much better.
Don't feel threatened though, I am not even sure if I am going to finish anything (last time I hosted was 2007).

My opinions? Go for it. Just remember what people actually want.
  • Things to do (quests, team hunts, challenging monsters)
  • PVP (do not mess this up, take SERIOUS focus on this)

That's it.

Rhe ONLY rebirth OT that waa fun playing was the one named "TheOtServer" it was up some year ago. The fun with that ot was modified monsters with fun loot, different classes likr u started @lvl 1 with paladin then at a certain lvl you were able to chose a "promotion", more of a class specialization. There were 2 class specializations to chose from. The best with the ot was that it was high rated and it had guild castle world pvp. U defended ur castle with the guild while other guilds wamna get in and kill the king of the castle - when they do that they own the castle, the benefits were more xp and custom hunt spots i think :P.

If u make a custom class system that is awesome, not made quick, then im in. Like, thst u have 3 promotion classes to chose from at lvl 100 like if ure a paladin u can chose the path of becoming an archer, assassin & something fun like a pirate/plunder xD. And make tactical bosses that drops awesome items, not tier items pls they so boring just make custom gear :$. And maybe so u can customize ur spells on ur char somehow :P would be unique and fun

Also! MAKE UNIQUE CLASSES I SAY IT AGAIN, Make a sorcerer promo class named Rune Maker. They can create strong runes, that ppl may buy from them, but how to make this class useful except selling special runes that ppl can only obtain from rune makers?
Grant the runemakers a passive ability/perk that does that the effectiveness of a rune that is used by a rune maker is increased, offensive runes deals 50% more dmg, supportive runes heal more, grants buff for s longer time and utility runes like magic wall has increased duration/or able to get canceled by the rune maker. Soz kind of blurry I'm typing from my phone xD hope smthngs helpful. At least id play for sure if something of this was implemented

I have the server you're talking about nikodada, not sure at what price should I be selling it.
 
The features Nikodada talked about could easily be recreated in about three months max. I won't be buying anything anyway, because I wouldn't have a fully custom server on my hands, No?

Well, nikodada mentioned only the rebirth system. he mentioned nothing about the rest of the great features in this OT.

Counter strike event, and much much more. the only thing will be missing is some sql queries and thats all, its 8.5 version

if you talk about 717k and rebirth --->

99% of the shit was pay to win and not playable by anyone who wont spent money into this. since i'm one of those guys its pretty frustrating.(highexp.eu as an example)

the only very well outbalanced high exp server with rebirths I played was.. i think it was XtrmeOT


I would suggest: unlike all the other servers, make rebirths go slow, but long lasting. it will take the time till 1., 2., 3, and the same amount of time till the 100. by making spawns that used to be viable on rebirth 1 unavaliable for rebirth 10.'s to prevent botting. Make it 9.x to prevent botting.
add bossed and quests for every few rebirth.(depending on the speed.)
Add some real content instea of (madness II example) just a new boss every 5 rebirths that you kill 100 times to get the whole set.
Probably promotions(?) for the rebirths that you gain. Such as 6 starting vocs turning into stronger vocations every 5-10(depending on how fast you level) rebirths and gaining a complete new variatyof spells, not just 1 new spell per rebirth hitting billions more and beeign the only valiable source of damage.

This will take the time it requirs. But starting with worse spells and (one more example from OTMII) playing assassin and getting a spell healing ur whole hp , a big aoe and sick single target DPS on the first rebirth, when people got up to 100 on this voc makes it pretty much not enjoyable in my opinion.

the BIGGEST issue in PvP in high exp servers are knights.

Knights got only theyre hp to block /tank stuff.

lets say a mage got 15 mil mana, 7 mil hp.

a total source of 22 mil blocking potential when beeign attacked.

a knight should be at about 12 mil hp on the same level.
which makes him 10 mil untankier as a sorc. No matter which high exp server, pallys and sorcs allways used to run the pvp if knights didnt have some sick ass 1hit everything bounceonboobies spell.


Just some advices and suggestions, hope i helped you out a little bit.

Mages can be balanced by changing the Mana Shield formula. It is doable. And yes, I'll take your tips in mind, I know that those are mainly the modern high~exp server's faults. I'm considering making rebirths EXTREMELY fast, but make a step above rebirths, Perhaps every 100 rebirths, your rebirths are reset and you get 1 revive for example. Maybe make revives give rewards to players. It's definitely a new system to play with. And I intend to balance Knights/Paladins with Mages by using Utility as an important factor. I'll weaken the survivability on Mages by changing how their Mana Shield works, and I'll grant them more utility (Crowd-Control abilities, small range teleportation abilities, powerful pets with customizable abilities), And I'll grant the Knights/Paladins increased survivability and more customization so that Paladins can choose to be either tanky, deal high damage, heal others powerfully, or be dealing better crowd control. I'll make Knights the server's tankers/insane damage dealers, but in order to be tanky they will sacrifice their damage dealing ability and the opposite is also true. Thanks for passing by.

Oh, do not worry about that. Although my project is a one man team so far, I do my work extremely quickly and efficiently. You will get to see that for yourself when I *cough*hopefully*cough* release it.
