i was just wondering

My english isn't that bad(at least i think).
But why there are armors called like 'dragon scale mail' or 'royal draken mail' or something? I know its an armor but why mail? Can i email my armor?(Joke, i'm seriously about this thread).

Mail is just another term for armor. Like chain mail.
