I'm going to upgrade my server to 8.60 from 8.42, but I have no idea how to!

As from what i've hear
d I only need to update the world and convert it to 8.60 world, which i also have no idea how to do and also upgrade my tfs. And is that all I need to do also? is there more etc...

Will all the scripts I use work after the 'upgrade'?
If someone could explain here or link me to some other explainations,
Currently fixing a RoXoR server and need to convert to 8.60 to further expand content of the server and fix some quest which I can't fix now. (Demon oak is the only quest atm I'm having trouble with) so I'd be thankful if someone could also offer me some help on that,

Will post further details and scripts on the demon oak if someone wants to help

Current TFS; 0.2.1

If you are for some reason upgrading a server (8.6 etc) then go with this; [8.60] The Forgotten Server 1.2
If you for some reason don't like having an optimized server then go with 0.4, but you will still have to fix alot of things since you are moving from 0.2.

Start with just replacing the .exe and simple things, data/libs/ and global.lua etc then start it, read the errors and fix them.
Once you have done that and have an error log you can post it here if you can't solve it yourself (use the serach function and try it yourself first).

And btw, if it's alot easier to get support with 1.x compared to 0.x.

how do I convert it?

Also is all I need to do is like delete the data in the 8.60 folder and put my data from my roxor into the 8.60 from 8.42?

Edit: Can I keep my Database from the 8.42 server also?

You open the map and press ctrl+p then change the version.

Correct, but keep the 8.6 files if you need to add things like items, action scripts, monsters etc

You might have to modify the database.
Compare the mysql.sql files and see if there is a diffrence.

Thanks wibbenZ for all your help and your dedication to this community, I appreciate it alot honestly!

After some testing yesterday I got the website working, BUT I connected it to my server DB and now I can't create characters ingame (this is understandable and isn't a problem atm) But I can't get others to connect to it.
I'm using Geisors website like the original, me and my cousin which got some back knowledge on servers and shit helped me out... or well tried his best to atleast, we though for people to be able to go into the website we need to find like a config of the geisors stuff but couldn't...

I did test what u said and changed it to 8.60 (the map) and tried to just start it to see what happens like straight out of curiosity. (server was 8.42) and when I started i got some bugs alot of addSpawn::: but nothing saying which spawns there is,

after checking it seems like only NPC's has dissappeared. I did add back only a few of them and ALL the errors did not show up after restarting.

And now my buddy gets a debug after trying to connect to the server, it worked yesterday before me and my cousin added the website and stuff.
I can connect with my localIP (127.0.0.1) but not RoXoR.hopto.org ; I did download no ip yesterday and setted that up quick, i'm not planning on having that ip it's just temporary atm.

I also changed a bit on my port forwarding. I think I had port 80 on both TCP and UDP which i changed to only TCP.
Also had 7172;7172 ported.
I removed that entirerly and only had one forwarded port, 7171;7172.
3306;3306 / 80;80 / 7171;7172 is the ports I currently have ported. Could this be the problem? I'm going to test it later because I don't have time right now, going away and coming home on sunday so if you guys don't know I'll test it out when I come home.

Anyways, thanks so much for the help WibbenZ and other people who wants to help!!!!

Did you follow the install page?
Do you get an error? (if not go to index.php and set DEBUG_DATABASE to true and try again, post a pic of the "errors").

You will run into alot of problems when updating a server, read the errors, check the source code to see what trips that error and try to locate the problem.
Unless you give us all the errors there isn't alot we can do tbh.

The debug might be because of the ip check this; Problem with [TFS 0.1] 10.37

All you need is 7171, 7172, 80 with both TCP and UDP I think, 3306 isn't needed I think.

Well as the errors say, you have 2 registerd items with the same id, serach for the ids and remove 1 of them.

Thanks so much for helping me solve that, such a simple bug but well yet hard if you arn't familiar with this stuff I guess...

Anyways, please let me know if you don't feel like helping anymore lol I'm starting to feel like a menace, but if you still feel like helping; another bug popped up.

Hard to say, could be that you are running out of RAM or bugged scripts etc etc
How much RAM does your computer have?
What type of map are you running, small, rl etc

Also check if you have all the visual studio packages installed, aswell as check DLLs.

8 gig ram,
map dimension is 4948 x 4920
this is all the dll's

Edit: I have a newer version of Microsoft visual c++ 2010 on my computer already, could that also be the problem? should I try downgrading?


EDIT AGAIN::: I removed a custom spell I did through the spellcreator and now the runtime error doesn't pop up. But it still crashes, it comes to loading script systems then crashes. "The forgotten server has stopped working"

Also noticed this

Well it's an error that inclues "visual" and "runtime", so check all the visual files.
Also try to run the server with a default datapack to see if it could be a script or something script related.

If the server starts with the default datapack move over ex actions, start, then globalevents etc etc till you find the problem.

Ppl have ran into issues like this before and could save you alot of time.
