I've been messing around with remere's for a few weeks and want to know what you guys think/hear any suggestions you might have!

Here's a little desert area I made just to show where I'm at in the learning process. Will post more when I make stuff I think it is worth it.

I'm not really a mapper or anything but I think you'r starting off pretty good! The 2 things that I find a little offputting in this little desert island are the use of jungle tree's in spots and a few mountain borders along the desert city style walls.

Yeah, I get bored using a single style of plants so I try to find different combinations of plants and terrain that look alright together. As far as the mountain borders I was going for a "we built this on top of a little mountain" feel. I could probably make it more like half mountain and half building so it doesn't seem as weird.

your stairs will not work until you add the yellow square tiles above them!

It should be a black square in the "stairs" pallete...

When u place it on map it shows as yellow.

press "Q" before you take screenshots, it will turn off the shading of lower floors.

my advice, stay away from the doodad pallette and browse through threads here for inspiration.
