Hi there,
On several occasions I have attempted to release my popular war distribution here - Simple War OT. We are now at version 1.5 and yet this forum has not had a taste of it since version 1.0(?)

My last attempt ([8.54] Simple War OT v1.5pl1) followed all the rules as far as I know.

Only two download links (The source and the server itself)
the Dll files were linked to a thread on this forum, so not a download link.

Source code included.
Credits included.

The only thing that I can think possibly caused my thread to be denied was because I linked to the official simple war ot distribution webpage.

Could the moderators of this forum take some initiative and fix the thread for the user so that he can accept it into the forum?
Or at the very least, inform the user of the issue?

I honestly feel like the OtLand moderators do not care about the small server developers and modifiers. The people that make this community.

inb4 simple war ot is not a distribution - so where do source edited servers go then?

Does your distro have source modifications? If yes, what features are programmed inside the source code?

Hio! Well since OtLand updated to vBulletin 3.8.5, they also made some changes in the download section. Only trusted members with high reputation (not points) are allowed to post distros. This is to prevent viruses.

You can however release it as a datapack, without an exe of course.
I hope that the explination was good enough.
I'm sorry that i forgot to inform you.

It's not really our job to kindly waste our time just to inform you that you didn't take your time to read the section's rules. By not abiding them you have already wasted the time of people that reported the thread and those who have dealt with the report. It might look like it's just a while, but it's the same thing over and over again.

Nevertheless there will most likely be a bot sending those reasons you are asking for to users when we move to vb4.

The only source modification at the present time is the removal of the Magic Wall protection zone block. I strongly feel that this is an important part of the war server, and other source modifications are likely to come in the near future.

So correct me if I am wrong, there is no place for modified distributions anymore? I apologize, but I feel that it should be up to the community at least partly to decide what they do and do not trust when it comes to distributions.

I am sorry for you to have made an uninformed response, I would kindly like to point out that (to my knowledge) I did read and follow the sections rules.
By not accepting modified distributions anymore you have "wasted the time" of the users who put in the work and effort to create what they believe to be a worthwhile contribution.

Further more, the 'rules' are pretty loosely defined. If someone was to not follow them, I honestly would not blame them.
Two posts.
Don't post without source code.
Max two download links.

You yourself pointed out that you did not feel that this was clear enough. Well, you are correct. It isn't. I however followed the all important 2 rules! Though now the 'rules' have changed without any notice to anyone. Now only people with 'reputation' can release distributions or modified distributions. Awesome.

inb4 one of you tries to make this just about my slightly modified distribution - This is me defending all users modifying distributions for the community.

One announcement was here: http://otland.net/f14/update-73034/#post748412 and it clearly says that threads in the Distributions section are now unlikely to be accepted.

The second was a 'floating message' (don't really know how to name it) in the downloads section with an explanation about the changes (you could close it and it'd never show again). Nevertheless I have made a new announcement in the Downloads section and removed irrelevant sticky topics.

Okay. Perhaps the archived distributions sub board should be renamed to something that represents 'unsupported' or 'unofficial' distributions, and the posting to this section be opened up to the community.

I still feel that through this you are actively restricting the release of any and all possible branches of TFS developed by outsiders.

Not that I have much input, but I do kinda agree that their should be a "Use at your own risk" section. :P

But I leave it in the hands of the moderators, as that is all I can do anyway.
