Installing RAM

Hello i just installed RAM to one of my computers but for some reason dxdiag shows it as 3GB while my system information shows it as 4GB as it should be, is this a problem and if it is does anyone know how to fix it?

Yes that computer is running Windows XP 32 bit

32 bit doesn't allow more than 4GB, but since it's more than 4.0 GB it will lower to 3GB. So i'd install 64 bit.
