Linux Installing Xampp on Linux

When I download "lampp" I type this in the terminal like it says to and I get this

root@ubuntu:/home/steven# tar xvfz xampp-linux-1.8.1.tar.gz -C /opt
tar (child): xampp-linux-1.8.1.tar.gz: Cannot open: No such file or directory

What is the problem?

Be shure that you're typing the path correctly (I think you're not).

What is the path and how do I type it if I have the "lampp" folder in my "Home" folder?

Why are you using Xampp?

I would choose between these instead, lighttpd or nginx.

I was just using xampp because I'm familiar with using it on Windows so I figured once I get it installed, it'd be easy to setup. Is there an easy to follow tutorial for lighttpd or nginx? Because I'm very new to linux.
