third option is jere which may be expensive but will bring international community however they all suffer from anger issues and bpd so they will quit within 10 days.

so with my calculations it should run u about $7-8k and 3 years of ur time at the very least.

or u can just win the lottery and go fuck bitches in the bahamas.

The only reason creating custom servers is a "life sentence" to your room, is because the amount of work it takes to see your own vision on this primitive... engine... no, better yet, lets stop calling it that.. it's an emulator, and that's the exact problem! The software was never intended to be an "engine" it was always intended to be an emulator... this shaped it completely, on it's code choices, it's decisions for moving forward or not, everything, literally every decision made was based in some way or another, on the premise, that this was always intended to be an emulator.

I can go on and on and list every single individual way the "engine" its self has caused such limitations.. but if you are a custom server creator, you already experienced it! You know what issues you fight on a daily basis, weekly basis... you know why it takes sooooo long to be able to see a single system actually get from your head to fully functional in game... and THEN, you still need to add all the content for that system.....

All I can say is that, man... if only someone who suffered these problems had created a server with a goal of making the server into an actual custom engine rather than an emulator... that would surely speed up system and content creation immensely... wouldn't it? Hmm... if we could only find a developer out there dedicated to such a cause... or an engine built for such a purpose...

At topic, I think it's absolutely worth building an server especially in today's age, I just think it's about choosing the right software for the right reasons is all.

If there only was a tool that would let you skip learning how to code for 2 years and allowed for instant creation of any system you would like, that would be cool right?

sure, if that same tool didn't have to fight the engine too 🤣

Contrary to popular belief, those things don't actually "think"... it will always be limited by input and the inability to think for it's self..

So sure.. you can attempt to write "any system you want" with a tool that produces output you are unable to comprehend (by your own statement, you said skip learning for two years) and see how far that gets you... it might take you far fast, but you risk it not getting you there and leaving you with a mess neither you nor the machine can cleanup...

Anyway it goes, it's your choice, but better to know all your options, right?

Personally, I'm on the side that it's still worth doing (at topic), for the learning experience of it all... like the original spirit of this community... but for others, it's only worth if they can make money... I guess you really have to ask your self what you value.
 
Just create whatever you would like to play personally (e.g. making and adding things you dreamt of XX yrs ago but was not able to do it) and eventually some people will come and enjoy it too, then they will stay on your ot. It also is good solution for having a very limited time to spend on playing - you will be sure that server will not close until you get to certain point/lose interest/whatever reason, because you decide about closing it or not. There are many lovely bases to start on - now it is literally the best time to work on server if you didn't do it yet. (not mentioning AI..)
 
worth considering what? you want to learn something and have fun? you want to charge people something and make money? it all depends on your vision

Worth is subjective, there are probably better money to be made elsewhere ... but is it all about the money?
Tibia is far from dead, and it just might stick around for couple more decades.

Are you blind? There have been plenty of valid answers.

Long story short, it is purely subjective to whoever is asking the question, and what their end goal is:
A) For profit: Either you need decent amount of knowledge/skill; or money to pay someone/a team who has those things.
B) For fun: The answer is yes.

Both variants require both time and dedication, and lots of it...

I think there were plenty of acceptable answers? Or have you just not heard the answer you are looking for?

Tibia is a 30 year old game. Its only worth working on an OT if you personally find it worth it. If that's from a hobby perspective, great. If its from a monetary one, great. but 'worth' is subjective, so the question doesn't have much premise to begin with. People find worth in much less, so in that regard, sure, we can call it worth it.

Frankly, I think people spend too much time trying to find 'worth' in everything they do, but maybe I'm the crazy one. Its ok to do things just because you find them enjoyable.
