hello otlanders :).
i'm improving my mapping skill and making my own custom map.
this is my start

Besides the fact that you use auto-border, you shouldn't make streets, buildings, etc. so symmetrical, it makes it look bad. Also, that's not city grass, that's only used for special areas like sacred places, gardens, parks, and other nice places. Once you've changed the grass tiles, add grass tufts, trees, stones, and whatever you feel makes it look better. By the way, trees don't grow in caves. How would they get sunlight to grow? You could also add hangables to the walls and other interior/exterior stuff like carpets, tables, counters, lockers, and so on. Keep it up, I wanna see real improvement. :thumbup:

a fantasy game and actually thinks like trees and flowers can grow underground.

Oh that makes perfect sense then. Keep adding trees. Just hope Neon doesn't slap you for not reading his tutorial. :p

and should i use the grass or the lawn? i think it looks better with the lawn but what do all think about it?

No.

When I started mapping I like that grass but one day I downloaded a server and added my map.
Then I realised that grass looks really bad.

The first tempel dident look good at all lool. But the others was OK.
 
Glad to help Javiersin. It does look better now. :thumbup: It also needs more details though. Try adding wall torches inside and outside, tapestries, and maybe build up a gate.
