If you look to line #107, you can see that we are closing the first news segment:

$main_content .= '<tr style="background-color:black;width:100%;height:3px"><td colspan="2"></td></tr>';

What I would do is try to add a few <br> after the </tr> it until it's spaced out how you like it. I wasn't able to test it so let me know if I'm off completely.

Eg.

$main_content .= '<tr style="background-color:black;width:100%;height:3px"><td colspan="2"></td></tr><br><br>';
