Hello Otlanders! Today I want to discuss an important subject to me. Long term plans.

As I am still young and I don't have any life experience (yet) I am afraid I will make a wrong turn in my education and end up with a low life and small payed job. It's my mission that I avoid that. I am thinking of ending my local high school and then go to Graz, Austria for Informatical path. It's a plan I disscused with my mother. I've always had a "knack" for CS (Computer science, systems whatever you call it). I have been always more advanced in the subject than any other student in my class. For sure the 2-3 year private course helped, but it's a subject I never fail to understand or get any hard times with it. The same goes with English. I always ace those class, for the difference where I get an F from other classes because I just can't focus or get it in my head. My top fear (along with the upper one) is the foreign country. Yes, I know English and I am studying German but I will always sound like a black sheep. I am afraid I won't get accepted in the community like any other Austrian citizen. Also, I don't have any relatives there and who will I talk to? If you are asking yourself : "Why don't you just stay in your country and work there?", there is a simple answer... THERE IS NO WORK HERE! In Bosnia everything is f*cked up. Only way to get a job here is to have friends or family in the workplace where you intend to apply. Also any education system here isn't worth shit on the international, opposite to Graz University where that "diploma" is worth something. I am rumbling myself with the tough will I comeback here and how will that affect my life. Will I get a job or I will have to work in Austria away from my family? There are so my toughts in my mind and most of them are fears.

Now I ask you OTLanders, what are your toughts on this?

You should get a job in Austria personally, if Bosnia is that bad get away from it and when you can visit them. There is no shame, no hard feelings (other than being homesick) from leaving people to better your future. Everybody has to start somewhere and this is yours, take it and don't look back.

Well, the problem there is the social life. How will I fit in, will my girlfriend be Austrian or Bosnian? As I said I have many fears.

You will fit in one way or another, it depends on if you are comfertable with your choice of lifestyle. People may 'label' you but if you know it's not true then don't worry, if it is then embrace it as for your gf situation probably Austrian unless you find someone from another country there.

You know how Arabs are labeled in USA? My toughts exactly.

It's because they labeled Islam as a terrorist religion and everyone who are muslims they are terrorists in Americas eyes.

If that's how you see it then that's fine but the point is, you have to move on in your life in order to better yourself for the future, I left my mother and two brothers (younger) in Mexico so I could come to America and study and get a good job.

I find it deeply concerning that you would rely on answers from children and teens on OtLand.net to explain and suggest what you should do with your life. I say, "take charge - it's your decision"...only you know what's best. There are endless opportunities; difficulties mastered are opportunities won. The fact that you are afraid is something you should adhere and take advantage of. Opportunities multiply as they are seized, and you must take risk, fight fear, and make your own decisions to succeed in life. Sometimes ultimate sacrifice is necessary for success. Be sure to research these opportunities, as well as ventures to further expand your knowledge through educative strategies wherever you end up - education matters.

Good luck. ;)

Couldn't say that better could you? Except for the kid part, I am 20 and I've been through this specific situation before (as I stated above) but various times.

Well, I was speaking in a general sense. I assume most members of this community are in fact young people. I meant no offense toward anyone...

It's alright, more importantly Fresh you need to take the opportunities given to you, they may only come once in your life.

Well I am not really relying on the opinions. I am just collectiong cons and pros for better knowledge and experience. Thanks for the head up.

Well I am trying to do that as I am opportunist (there is no half empty or half full glass for me, I just drink it.).

Discuss it over with family. I don't live in Bosnia, but I know things are rough there. If you need financial support, you will likely need your family to back your venture. Otherwise, I suggest contacting schools across the country (Austria?) and finding out what options are available for prospective students (use that word - it's fancy, they like that). Most schools in the United States have programs to support families of students, and students themselves by bringing them over here on some form of Visa and funding provided by the school itself, or donations. But to ensure success in this area, you'll need to prove your worthiness and capability of success (good grades and letters of recommendation are helpful). Things may be different in Europe, and most likely are, I cannot help you much in this area, sorry.

I think there are no rec. letters here wich is a big minus :/

Please, I hope you don't rely on people who comment here because most likely they don't have any experience on what they are saying infact, I don't even have experience with the subject.

I'd ask a higher experienced person where you live or email someone who is adult and works outside from his country.

It's calmed down abit actually, I haven't really seen the Americans pester the Arabs INSIDE america yet, besides people will like you for who you are, not what you are.

I live in Dearborn, Michigan (the home of Arabs in the United States). Trust me, they are very very very friendly people, they are social, funny, friendly, helpful.
They say they're nothing like the ones living in the desert. They are trying to change the whole idea and separate themselves from the "bad muslim" (as you would call terrorist).
Unfortunately, it is a bit more difficult in today's bullshit global media.

Just to correct you. There are no "bad muslims". Bad people cannot be muslims. Terrorists are going to hell.
