As mentioned before, great work in my opinion. There are too much dark spots (or the dark is too dark ) in my taste, but it's just someone's preference and doesn't mean it's bad.

I have also played with your sprite, just because had some free time.
You can compare them two and see if you like anything in my remake and pick something from that too.
