With a group of mappers we decided to make mapping tutorials.
For a long time the mapping tutorial board has been inactive, with this we want to make more activity in this board. With more activity, it will motivate new mappers sooner to look at tutorials and also to provide them with better tutorials. And Maybe, it will also motivate more people to make their own tutorials.

The idea
The team tutorials are about things that can be made in alot of ways, so more members, more ideas, better tutorials.
For every tutorial, every mapper of the team can add their own ideas how to make something.

How does it work
When the tutorial topic is decided, people who want to join that tutorial can send their part to me in pm.
All tutorial pieces are going to be screenshots from the mapeditor and will only show the parts from the topic of the tutorial (or if needed extra parts to make the tutorial more clear).
For the rest, only thing you have to do is send your ideas. All text, id's and explanation will be added by the person who makes the thread.
I will wait about 4 weeks before I post the thread (depense on when everyone is done)
The names of everyone who helped will be added in the thread.

First tutorial topic
Yalahar roofs
(All ways you can think of how to use those roofs will be welcome (different floor designs, roof decorations, different kinds of buildings, gates etc), but also simple ones. If more people have the same idea, it will just be used 1x)

If you like to join, leave a comment or send me a pm.
Also feel free to ask any questions or to give suggestions about topics you would like to see as tutorial.

If this team is formed, would you guys be willing to take time out and give like, actual tutoring/advice lessons with mapping?

Why not record them and then post it as youtube videos?

This would be a nice idea if it was about how to do 1 single thing. But this idea is about things that can be made in alot of ways. Every type of how to use the roof will be placed together in groups. So people will only have to look at the things they don't know yet.

We could possibly turn this into a mapping school.
I dislike this idea,

I remember some person doing a mapping school, he got a few lessons far with perhaps 2-4 'students'?
Let's keep it to a tutorial team

Quantity and quality of tutorials will go up! ;D

Agreed, the tutoring thing was just a side question, because I haven't mapped in over 4 years and I'm the definition of "rusty".

We already have a nice team together, but should be cool if we will be a bigger team! I think the best thing we can do is creating lot's of tutorials per theme (read: towns/desert/category monster) where we give people advice on what should be placed on a certain theme, and learn people how to get creativity.
I don't know when we are willing to start, but I have tentams next week, so I won't make any tutorials until I am done.

@Luffy
We can ofc. give some amout of individuals a lesson. If you give (some new) mappers some advice while you are mapping with them, you will also be able to see what you have to show people on your tutorial / how to improve the tutorial you earlier made. But yeah, it shouldn't be primary. The focus is just to create a huge amount of tutorials.

Instead of lessons, just host teamviewer sessions and let them examine how you map and in the meantime let him ask questions. Also, during the mapping, just explain a bit why you do this and why you shouldn't do something else, I think that would be the most effective.
