Monster Spawn Radius

Hello. I've got silly question, how does Monster Spawn Radius work? I ask about it because I don't know if I should make big radius or small ones. If player stands on the radius does it block monster respawn? Can monster walk on whole radius or just some sqms? Please explain me how does it exactly work.

Monsters can walk outside the radius, NPCs cannot

How about blocking the spawn? Does player need to stand on radius or how it works?

No, they just need to be on the screen of the monster (?)

Ye, that's what I want to know, so basically what is the difference between small radius and big radius, cuz seems like there isn't any difference.
