Okay, first let me say that i'm still a rookie in spriting, but here's what I can say:
On these sprites (for tibia) the light is on the north-west, so you have to adjust the reflections properly. For example:
Also, you are using a lot of colors on your sword, making it look like rubber, and they dont have volume.
On this sword you can see for example, the areas that are more illuminated:

And here's a image showing the brighter areas of a creature:
