Sorry mate, but the 'ugly cobblestone' is looking really ugly in large amounts. Try changing the path ground into dirt or something similar to make it look more realistic and lees overspammed.
Other than that, just practise a bit more and read a few tutorials and you can actually become a decent mapper. The idea of remaking the map was okay - it's just the way you did it that questions the mapping.
