Hey guys, so I have about 30-40 hours of tibia in my whole life, had about 2 character, only played global tibia about 10 years ago, almost all of this time was spent on roofgard.

Now, why would I want to come back to a game that punishes new players so bad?

Because me and my cousin, we had real adventures in the world of tibia! We really liked the thrill of getting lost in the maps, and dungeons, never knowing if we would even be able to find the way back, let alone get there alive, and it was very fun to try getting our items back when we lost something that cost a lot of money or was difficult to find.

Now because of coronavirus(3 months off) and a very weak rig, We want to come back to tibia, and I created a server, and my server worked great! (after I followed a bunch of tutorial and troubleshooting in the forums, which was about 7/8 hours of pain in the arse, even had to contact my ISP to open the ports).

But after trying a bunch of servers, I've run into a problem that I don't seem to find a solution.

Almost all of the servers I download and run seem to be focused for PVP and easy hunting, I found one server that replicates the 8.60 original map perfectly but I spawned in mainland at level 20 and was levelling like mad. I managed to make new characters spawn at roofgard and start at level 1, but I set the all rates to 1 and I was still levelling like mad, and when I died at roofgard, I spawned in mainland.

TL;DR

So, 1st problem:
Could you guys recommend me some server that is as closely related to the vanilla tibia as possible (10.5 or below)? I just don't want the versions that have map in the cyclopedia, because that takes away the fun for us.

2nd problem:
Where exactly should I look for my servers? Distributions, data packs or maps board?

3rd and most important:
I just don't understand what you guys mean when you make distributions, maps and databases available in the forum:
- what is war system? what is RL 100%? what is quests 50%? new arena? krailos? casino? reward? what is tibia RL? what is food system 100%? npc 75%? wtf???? I'm lost

Please remember that I'm a complete noob near you guys, and there's so much stuff between distros, maps and data bases that I'm completely lost, and all the servers I tried, none were like I wanted it to be. So I really need some help to find my ideal server. (I know that a perfect server doesn't exist)

I want slow levelling, spawn in roofgard, choose a vocation at lvl 8, search for items and quests, dwelling into dungeons to find bosses items and complete quests, etc. When it starts to get too slow and boring, I can just ramp up the rates little by little.

extra: I couldn't run the forgotten server because my site for creating accounts and characters was unresponsive, but I managed to make some servers on Brazillian sites run fine.

I see a lot around here is focused in the forgotten servers, how does forgotten servers compare to vanilla tibia?

Thanks guys, waiting for your help before I keep hunting for an ideal server :)

First problem:
You should try Nostalrius, is a popular distribution of tibia 7.7 using the cipsoft files but with some slight modifications to make it easier.

Still you could try the original Zanera files and play with the accounts from real players, that would instantly put you into the old conditions as you wanted.

Second problem:
Distributions

Third problem:

what is war system?
Tibia released a war system many years ago, this is just a distribution with a similar system.

what is RL 100%?
It means that the OT distribution have a tibia map as similar as possible to the real one

what is quests 50%?
It have at least 50% of the real quests of original tibia

new arena? krailos? casino? reward?
Just added functions like the svargrond arena or an NPC with casino, etc. Many stuff that doesn’t really matter unless you’re releasing an OTServer for the masses

what is tibia RL? what is food system 100%?
Tibia rl means the original tibia

npc 75%?
Same as quests means at least 75% of the original NPC

Note: This is an old thread but just in case more people have the same questions.

Cheers 🥂

actually that has been scaled way back, these days you can't even get PKed, money is way cheaper to come by, AOL prices haven't scaled at all,

everything is much easier these days than it was back in 2010
