The reason is that the fucking google developers buy it, and "updated it" with some random SHIT,

they really didn't change much, I don't however see why they didnt have a layout choice.
 
There have been speculations that the layout was changed to be compatible with the new Apple's iPad. These are just speculations, but what do you think?
 
well seeing how google wants to promote the Nexus One over any Apple device I don't see their reasoning with updating youtube just for the iPad.
