Linux Out of memory: kill process......... UBUNTU 10.10

Hi guys.
I installed Ubuntu 10.10 on my PC to test if everything is working fine for Linux(cuz my host will be linux)
but, when the map is loading it says Out of memory: kill process... (and start killing processes), and the server dont load...
how can I disable that?
my computer can easily open the map, its an realmap
my computer is an i5 4 GB RAM and in windows 7 i can open it without even lag the computer.
So... ?

You need to resize the map a little bit...maybe you havbe much sea or much black tiles anywhere...ersize the map and u wont have this problem anymore^^

Maxens is right, Ubuntu is using all the resources it has to open the map and after a specific interval it will begin dumping processes to relieve memory/processing speed.
