Hey everybody. i am in the process of building a new computer and i am planning on perhaps hosting a server of my own, but i truly got no idea what kinda specs i would be needing to properly host a server without laggs?

Could you guys tell me the important stuff please?

Like how many GHZ minimum, etc, etc, etc, etc.. I dont know much about intern hardware:P

Thanks very very much

Depends on what kind of ot you want to host the size of the map etc,
Like a normal evolution server can be hosted by a real slow PC, but real maps requires pretty good pc's

Could someone be a little more specific about the computer specs required to host a big sized otserv laggless?

you need 4GB of RAM at least to host a 'big-sized' (rl-map) otserv.

Ram is the big concern, as long as you have enough hard-drive space and a decent CPU you should be fine, the main bottleneck is your Upload Speed (not download speed), so check it here: Speedtest.net - The Global Broadband Speed Test
You should be able to host 25-30 people for each 0.1mbps (100 kbps).

upload!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
*4gb ram if you want to host a rl map
*good single core cpu

Here is the pc i´ve build for my budget, would that be able make me able to host a big sized map?
My upload = 3,67
My download = 22,06

here are the specs of the pc i am considering to buy:

Sony Optiarc AD-5260S artnr. 286252 : € 18,45

OCZ ModXStream Pro 600 watt artnr. 90497 : € 58,32

Cooler Master CM 690 II Advanced artnr. 252897 : € 83,80

Samsung SpinPoint F3 Desktop Class HD103SJ artnr. 225309 : € 46,56

Kingston HyperX ddr 3 1600mhz 2x4gb artnr. 260479 : € 48,28

MSI R6670-MD1GD5 artnr. 403127 : € 77,87

ASUS F1A55 artnr. 439594 : € 69,29

Im not planning on having500 players on my ot or something, but if its 0,1 mb per 25 players that i can easily handle 100/200, right

Will 200 players be ok for my upload?

Well, the network usage per player really depends on how many actions does the player do in-game. Also you should consider that website with lot of images and other resources may eat your upload.

Lol one player 0.3mb, hard to believe bro
Anyhow, i´ll see once i´ve gotten my pc hardware pieces

3.7 ghz intel processor, 1 tb memory, 8 gb ram (1600 mhz), nice graphic card, good cooling.. it'll do the work hopefully elsewise ill think about upgrading it even more

Could anyone tell the true amount of players per 0,5 mb upload? I really cant believe 0.3 mb PER player xd

The thing is, to run a nice server you will need basically a GOOD processor, the more RAM the better, and the more upload the better too. Graphics card are not needed and wont influence in nothing the otserver.
3.7 GHZ processor ir nice, and the memory too. Sometimes the otserver get's lagged not because the net and yes because the computer, this will not be your case...
Now you've gotta get a nice internet. Sometimes the monthly costs of a nice internet is more expensive than paying a VPS server... it's your choise..
(in my country, brasil :( )
