I started mapping in a RPG sense in early 2010, before then I was all about having teleports leading to spawns, massive hits by players and monsters and overpowered items. Then I decided that I wanted to make an RPG server, so I started to develop a city to see if I had any potential at being an RPG mapper. I finished building the city and then pretty much continued from there developing spawns etc and even more cities. I lost interest in the project somewhat near the end of 2010 I think, I ended up selling the project to someone and it eventually as per usual found its way to being a free download somewhere.
I eventually decided to somewhat restart the Zerstora server, keeping the same city but relocating spawns and so forth. I eventually lost interest in this as I was busy with school and such.
Then I became interested in mapping again, being inspired by Neon & Chauz map's, I'll admit a way I learnt from mapping was ripping other maps. Darklord did the same to me I believe, I remember him showing me a piece he pretty much copied from a picture I had shown on my personal mapping thread or in quick showoff.
If anyone ever wanted to know who taught me to map, some may think it was Neon or Chauz, but no, it wasn't either of them. In fact it was actually
iMadison, she and I both shared an interest in mapping and she pretty much taught me what to do.
