Phpmyadmin Problem

Hi
Today i got an error when i wanted to go through phpmyadmin, that my config.inc.php file is false or sth. Then i tried some things like changing permissions etc but still was error, then i took a new config file. I could login etc, but the DB's are gone. They didnt dissapear, but i cannot look on them with this phpmyadmin. Do i have to change sth in config file ?? There is no path to the folder where the db's are stored or sth.. I use Debian + lampp(Xampp)

Will the Db's of my OT be broken, if I copy the lampp/var/mysql folder with the db's, reinstall lampp and copy the db's again there??? I hope not :S but wanna ask before i do it ;)
