i put the spawns in on my map editor and monsters what else do i need to do to get them to show up in game

Ofcourse you need to also have them in your server and in monsters.xml.

spawns + monsters, that's the only thing you need to have in order to get them visible for players.

Make sure the monster's XML file exists, and that it is configured correctly in monsters.xml, and make sure you aren't trying to spawn a monster inside a PZ area. If you do that, it won't show up, even if you placed a spawn tile.

Please, read the whole thread instead of posting the same answer twice. Seems like you are only looking at the first post and replying (to get more posts in my eyes).
