I have just joined the forum with a concern regarding the Otland forum rules. Why are there no clear guidelines on some topics, leading to confusion and inconsistent enforcement?
How can we ensure that all members are treated fairly and consistently?
Because banning for 1 year over links is the only show of power moderators will ever get to experience
Unlike most of us who dominate local mommies on the daily
Multiple people showed their disappropriation and only got banned / silenced
Once mods are after you for private reasons they will do everything they can to abuse their power and give 1 year ban warnings
The problem is moderators are often old people who do not understand most of us are young and our way of communicating is full disregard for any respect to each other (boys will be boys)
Hence u dont see official discord because those people still sit at their pc crying saying msn were the days or IRC while discord is just the next technological advancement forums are slow and getting less and less usefull to people who are not tech savvy and need proper explaination in full detail on 1 on 1 basis. Forums are thing of the past and lack of adjustment from administration leads to semi dead forum with answers to outdated engines and bugs. So much for moving to tfs 1.0 few years ago huh
You want real life experience what its like for 99% of people on internet ? Sit ur father at pc tell him to browse otland he wont be able to find anything because its too bloated even with good looking UI to us to some people it will make 0 sense we all have privilege of owning pcs but most people live in real life and not under online aliases.
Also rules seem to only be enforced when gang of people decide to report your posts

Really doubt someone join the forum and their main first concern is over the rules. I have being here for 20 years almost and had no problems. Maybe some people like to test the limits or use the forum for something it's obviously not destined for. If you make a more objective question you would probably get a better answer, what are those topics you don't think the rules address properly?

I don't think so.

I got year warning for formatting on server gala and managed to talk it out into weekly warning but seriously throwing everything at 365 days and closing the problem is not solution
Similar to jail you get punished for actions but the problem is barely ever resolved maybe think about lowering the error margin humans live if ur lucky to 80s so 1 year bans are inappropriate way of preventing curious from asking questions.
Also about inappropriate behaviour why not block submit on post when illegal words are used? Kind of like giving user warning and prevention of some sort instead u can abuse someone and it wont be taken care of until moms home

In my opinion 1 year warning for violating board rules can be too much- but you need 3 warnings to get banned so its moderable. Someone could raise the topic in the feedback forum if this is the case. That could be revisited/changed if someone have good examples.
Btw: 1 year warning is the default for everything. So I am talking that default could be other duration for board rules violation.

I already gave good examples there can be posts hanging that are mutilating someone on forum badly and the administration wont see them until they are reported yet they show online for 10 hours straight must just be sitting on money to be leaving their pc running 24/7
(no auto detection for words such as F... C... etc. you name it)
no prevention of posting such posts by autodetecting vulgarisms?
banning people for speaking in their own langauge in MULTI CULTURAL community and LACK of education in said "english" language?

Mark nor don daniello as far as im concerned are of english descent? while we have native boards yes it is still lacking like 99% of other languages and only bases itself on the most used ones? (racism?)
honestly its exhausting that all of the rules are 365 days warning that should be starting point another thing is some boards have outdated rules inside and the rules on the top bar are in very right I have used otland for 5 years and never ever paid attention or even seen the top bar i only seen the user button honestly the rest was always kind of useless such as whats new? we already have the right menu showing latest postings or members? we have online list on the right nav bar aswell?
overall the UI is just too blending when it comes to layout that the navbar on top does not stand out.
Some of the rules are very hard to comprehend or understand people after using confirmation link and activating account should be put into rules and have to click I accept the rules or something perhaps? so that they actually have read and the boards internal rules to be revised and rewritten to fit modern times. also "offtopic" rule is pretty much useless 1year warning because u had chit chat with someone? seriously. for talking to someone u can get banned for 1 year if you make 3 offtopic posts in row and they kind of bait you to do so and report you via multiple users/accounts ganging up on users clear example of this is people who post on tibiantis or post in general who never:

1 year warning because someone is showing lack of respect for a flag and i reply with a word "sh*t" ? rodded gave me that warning what a joke
another 1 year warning for putting link in a post? damage was already done if people seen the link and it was part of the post context aswell? about people blatantly breaking rules of an OT server and administration not caring about that at all! (RMT) which was bringing up an issue and talking about the server and its developers attitude towards it but hey so meanwhile im here scared to give opinions and theories of the administration being potentially corrupt or not following up on their part of deal and only banning botters?
(I would agree to rule advertising being right If i was glorifying the said link(store) but I was talking about the negative impact it has on FAIR play basis of the server and leading to power abusing and unplayable game) and also making players aware of the potential for abuse by RICH people. making game pay2win

im not saying allow people to speak bad words but sheesh if you actually lived in english speaking country you would find this word is being used in every second or third sentence!
even if someone gathers the 3 warnings the banishment shouldnt be until the last warning date it should be either taken into consideratoin to maybe give a week/month/3month break and give people chance to still contribute despite some small flaws instead of just banhammering people for half their life I could be dead next year.
