how much ram is required to host a server ? I can get a server at strato with 1gb ram unlimited traffic and 50gb hdd is it enough?

Because once you start adding things, scripts map, that ram requirement till grow very quickly+ any windows operating system that isn't too outdated to run properly and securely will take 1 gig all by itself to perform best, you will also be running a database server that occupies ram, remote connections occupy ram, website hosting occupies ram.

yes that is enough. but fair warning is our point that we are making, your server will not be successful with anything hostable with only 2 gigs of ram.

Okay do you got a reccomended Hoster which doesn't cost that much as Strato AG?

Dedicated hosting is not cheap, what you are offered is actually very cheap, but as you see it doesn't even show processor, so who knows how good that even is...

you can always see if they will let you test for a week or something I'm not really sure. vps is a very difficult choice being that, many vps are designed to share resources between other vps on the system they are hosted on, so if one of the vpses are hogging the system resources and the resources aren't evenly distributed then it will actually create lagg spikes and freezes.

4 gb ram is waaaay to little. He needs atleast 6 or 8 gb ram to be able to hold the server on a decent amount of players without it shutting down at 10 If you have 4 gb ram with a 35 mb map your server is not gonna handle more than 10-15 players before its shutting down by force nomatter how much gb ram ur using.

How so? I hosted on dual core 1.8 ghz Athlon x2, 4gb ram with a rl map with 90+ players

Oh well it might just be my computer then cause when i did it my ot went down on 15 players so i bought a dedicated instead remember it was on my home connection so that might be why tho

You should get a dedi man, they are much better. You're in Germany so Hetzner would be a good option, look at their ServerBidding thing. Last I checked the lowest price in there was ~20 EUR.

Yeah its true that they dont offer infinite traffic but read the fine print, its not a bad deal, and unless you plan on hosting porn I dont think you'll exceed 10TBs

I hosted an evo with 50~ players, had linux ubuntu and 512mb (0.5gb)
Just use linux and server save each day, if you got an rl map you need atleast 6gb.
8 is recomended. An evo is recomended at 4gb.

But you can run an rl map at 4gb aswell..
