2 months ago i left my server because of some problems:
- Website nukers without solution
- And the "Lost connection to MySQL server during query" problem

It was running on windows.

Now a friend of mine told me linux would solve all of those problems.

I want a opinion if it's true, and what do I need to change my windows server to a linux server.

Also, these are the options on the hosting website:

centos-5.5-i386
centos-5.5-x86_64
debian-lenny-i386
debian-squeeze-i386
debian-squeeze-x86_64
ubuntu-lucid-i386
ubuntu-lucid-x86_64

Which operational system should I choose?
2gb RAM is ok for global map?

Thanks

if you're going x64, 3GB at minimum because that's about what a realmap uses with a 64-bit TFS.
swapping is imminent

if x86, you risk crashes due to memory usage limit (you can remove unreachable tiles to compensate)

about Lost connection during query, it __can__ happen on linux too

I'll use 3GB Ram.

Which one would you use Cyko?

centos-5.5-i386
centos-5.5-x86_64
debian-lenny-i386
debian-squeeze-i386
debian-squeeze-x86_64
ubuntu-lucid-i386
ubuntu-lucid-x86_64

I'm totally unexperienced on linux.

about Lost connection during query, linux will at least minimize that problem? If not, is there any real solution?
Thanks for atention

You must be stupid if you're asking Cykotitan for Linux related information. He's Windows user, hurr. Personaly I'd choose Debian, you can find over here many tutorials related to this system.
