Relationship between Tibia.dat, items.otb and items.xml?

Hi.

Simple question to which I have found no answer, what is the relationship between the files Tibia.dat, items.otb and items.xml (and maybe also Tibia.spr)?

Also: What is items.otb? Is it a server-side representation of Tibia.dat and Tibia.spr? What information is contained within it?

Is there any link to file format documentation?
