Hi everyone,

I've been studying cases of internal fraud in OT servers (like the recent Brazilian case where ~$25k USD was stolen by a staff member — this article is in portuguese) to better understand how the owners and gamemasters deals with these issues.

Questions:
  1. Have you ever experienced problems with staff/GMs frauding your server's economy?
  2. How do you monitor this today? (if at all)
  3. What kind of solution would be useful for you?

I'm not selling anything — just trying to understand the problem before thinking about concrete solutions.

Any experience shared is greatly appreciated!

Back in the day I managed a server...

1. Yes. People will abuse whatever is available for them.
2. Not sure about recent distros, but I had a list of all commands used by whom and when.
3. I had to disable so many commands that GMs ended up looking more like tutors.

About the mentioned scam, it's way more aggravating since he doesn't even know how to manage a server... Open Tibia architecture expects good faith of whoever has the access to server/db. Harder to mitigate.

There is no other way if your team is small.
You have to trust them.

I would add some sort of metrics to audit everything, but you need to trust who is implementing that as well.
A dashboard showing the server economy summary would allow visual confirmation that something is off right away.
In the case above, just tracking coins would be enough.
