RL map or custom map???

Is a rl map server better than one with a custom map??

first of all.. im drunk..

Not to be disrespectful or anything but i have seen a lot of shitty servers with rl map with more than 100 players..

doesn't people appreciate custom maps anymore??

And im not hatin you know... i just want to know what do you guys think..

im not going to lie
i started my ot to make money
but i really dont care anymore
i just want people to play it and say.. "hey have you played babla ot?"

but whats the point of mapping.. scripting.. putting time and effort
when you can just download a rl map and have 100 players instantly

im not exaggerating.. because its true :S

Well theres opentibias problem right there. People make otservers for money now. Its fucking stupid. Get a job. Sure take donations by all means, but to pay for a good host. Thats it. Stop there. People just download and run a realmap server and get alot of donations and take away from all the people that actually put time and effort into their servers. Its stupid.

People hate real maps because there are tons of them and most of them are done without any dedication. Spawns are missing, npcs are missing, house/street names and text on signs are missing. As the matter of fact most people making real map servers only download the map and a server and start it.

However, the real real map beats the shit out of most custom maps. Some custom maps might look nice on forums but they take a long time to make because they are usually overdetailed in every spawn. Most likely it will never be released even after one year of working and even if the server opens many people will dislike the map because its just annoying to play overdetailed maps.

Of course there are good custom maps too, like WoL's map. It was really cool. But people are just not used to it and therefor not many people will try it out.

Bad realmap with much players > Good custom map without much players

The only way you are going to make money out of otservers is to be a really good scripter/mapper/hoster (so you dont have to pay others) and really put time into your ot so you get 500 players online at any given time. Or you could scam people opening the same server over and over again and let people donate for a month then change name. You have to make sure your server has something the players have to come back to thought (like oldera was the only 7.6 around so people kept donating to ryan)

Custom Maps: They are for players that speak english.

Real Maps: Simple.. Everyone knows what to do.

Although custom maps are better, more time spent, real maps will always have the higher popularity due to people are afraid of change.
Some custom servers with 1-10 players are actually one of the best servers out there..

Most custom maps are not better. But yeah youre right, the really good ones either have 1-10 players online or not online at all.

Why would someone host a custom server when most people want to pk on a rl map?

Dont get me wrong some custom maps are good but 98% of them are stolen/terrible
 
You know why they are terrible, because everyone is just downloading globalmaps and running them ;p. Destroying the creativity

I agree with you on that one :)
So many people host OT's with absolutely no experience at all and had 100% help from other people. But it's just the way it is I guess :O
 
yeah. ahwell. we still have a great community with some of the smartest devs and scripters ive ever seen.

Again I must disagree. Premium is expensive. An ideal RL map OT has cheap donations that are not overpowered, but convenient.
RL tibia has 1x rates which is low as shit if you dont have so much time on your hands..RPG custom rl maps are amazing if you can make all the quests work, 2nd promos are awesome, no 8.5 pvp system (Sux), the death loss on rl tibia is ridiculous, you die once and waist 10 hours of hunting lol. Plus theirs so much more you can do with OTs, you cant suggest an update on rl tibia to be done and expect it to happen lol. Theirs a lot of reasons but I dont wanna type so much.
