RME map editor, erasing

This is kind of a newbie question: How do I mark and area and just click delete like in simones? Cant open the map in simones, because it's 113mb and I get memory overload error from simone.

Hold down shift and left mouse button and drag over the area you want to select. When it's selected just press the del key (or rightclick -> cut)
