What's the difference if there are only 4 unique colors in the picture? Also png and gif are not the only ones which support alpha channel.

gif always puts a blur on smaller text when I upload it. And png and gif are the major ones. The ones photoshop saves as transparent.

GIF puts a blur? I think someone didn't think this through, it's more likely to be JP(E)G.
About GIF, it's limited to 256 colors.

And yea, I didn't use photoshop so .jpg is not transparent.
If I could only add tranparency to that 470 byte .png now >_<

JPEG doesn't support alpha channel. Only 32bit formats does (8bit for each channel (RBG) + 8 for alpha grades).

EDIT: You edited your post, damn it.

Okay, I should've said transparency. It doesn't support it natively but it's technically possible to do in photoshop[?].

Ye, I believe JPEG 2000 supports it, but it's not the same as JPEG. The JPEG standard doesn't have any alpha channel, nor transparency, you can apply transparent features to the image before saving, like in any format.
