I turned my pc on this morning and it loads to the startup screen. The part where it says windows xp and theres a loading bar. . Anyway, it loads and just restarts itself. Any ideas how to fix this?

thanks in advance,
three.

Im not looking for the problem, im lookin for a way to fix it. I know theres probably hundreds of reasons for the problem, though im sure the solution is simple.

Could you run the pc in safe mode and then see if it loads, it if does please scan the whole pc for viruses, it could also be a ram problem.

I can login on safe mode, though it restarts after several seconds automatically. I dont believe it could be the ram, as its ran perfectly in the past, a virus, im not sure about, possibly. Though i havent downloaded anyThing recently.

Have you installed any new hardware or software before it started to happen?

If so try unistalling it if possible, if not run the pc in safe mode again,

Go to control panel
Then Perfomance and maintance
then click on system
then advanced tab
then click on settings in starup and recovery section
then uncheck automaticlly restart.

and restart the pc again and see if the problem still is there. Obviously this can prevent from you knowning what the real problem might be if it works.

Same with me :P I tried adding ram to my computer, but once i tried starting it.. it rebooted all the time so i took the ram out and it worked as usual :P

I tried turning it on to try safe mode and a blue windows screen came up Saying it was checking the disc drives. File system NTFS. Though it aborts on stage 2. .

Try Last Known Good Configuration... this helps in case newly-installed drivers are preventing the OS from booting.

@TKO

i agree it, you need reinstall windows, i think you got a problem when you install OS windows in you PC, you CD can be sucks x) and reinstall all drivers too

I dont have a disc to re-format it, though i could possibly get one. How can i re-format my pc? Ive never had to do it before..

If you never formated your computer... It could be some problems.. :P
Well.. All you really have to do is put the cd in. Click enter at startup (If you have enabled cd-booting) {Else enable it in BIOS}
When you get to a blue screen where you can select ur partitions select the one you installed windows on before (Usally C:) Mark it and press the key to Delete partition, I think its d, then l for conformation (You will see what keys to press etc..) Once its deleted, Create a new partition with the same amount of space as the old one, Format it with NTFS (NOT FAT32 OR NTFS FAST) After that almost everything is automated... :P

Best solution for you is to repair your computer ;) Dont know if you haev same as me, but you could try out the system recovery.
