I think that is a good and I agree with Talaturen about his idea.
So please, think what you may post and why Talaturen chose to make it for Pacc.
I got Scammed by Wutang and I used to hate Paypal..

Talaturen with another moderators Are working hard for Devoluping TFS and It's not even easy, getting Scammed by an Idiot it's not really swetty too, so if you think that he made this for win more money, you're wrong.

1st- you're making a Donation to Otland.
2nd- He is givving Tfs and more things for free as the major part of community does, and It takes a lot of time.

If you are dissapointed go to another forum to sell.

Tibia is getting worst, but more worst will be if all what we do now it's for sell.
It will be a moment that this community will go down..
so Read and Respect his decision.

Talaturen
The marketplace wasn't even meant to exist and I hate how OpenTibia has become all about making money. This wasn't a rushed decision, what could have been a rushed decision was adding the marketplace in the first place. I have considered this change for months and now that Znote brought up that there is scamming going on in the marketplace I finally decided that it's time to limit creating threads there to premium users (it was planned to happen at a later time anyway).

We're not stopping you from making money from OpenTibia, but we are limiting the advertising of it to premium users as they have paid to support OtLand. If there is evidence of them scamming we can ban their account, and it won't just be enough to register another account to start another scamming attempt.

This change was more about decreasing the use of the marketplace than trying to stop scammers though. While it obviously doesn't stop scammers from contacting buyers/sellers, it stops them from reaching out to everyone who is viewing the marketplace. It is up to the seller/buyer to decide if he or she wants to make business with anyone who is interested or not.

I'm disappointed to see how most of you are upset about this change and aren't trying to see the good things with it. It was definitely not made for OtLand to make more money, if I was running OtLand as a business I would have added ads to the forum a very long time ago and stopped working on The Forgotten Server, OtLand IP Changer and any other project I develop as free and open-source.

To answer some questions that were brought up:
No, existing threads by non-premium users will not be deleted. Although we won't help you to keep your very old thread alive by i.e. cleaning it up so you can start selling a OT map when you originally were selling a Tibia character in the thread.
No, your thread won't be deleted when your premium expires.

I'm closing this thread now so that people can easily see my response without having to go back a few pages when everyone keeps repeating what has already been said about how they dislike this change. I've heard you and I'm not changing my mind, the change is final and if you don't understand then that's just too bad but you can still go sell your stuff at eBay if you're here to sell stuff and while you won't give anything back to OtLand.

This change wont stop scammers, it only hurts the users more. I'm not a premium member currently but I've bought subscriptions plenty of times in the past. Do you think I'm a scammer? You bought an item from some random person, you knew the risk. If you bought by PayPal, 90% chance you get your money back. I used to sell game accounts and have dealt with high fraud rates in the past. This approach to prevent scamming will hurt regular users more overall.

@Talatauren: You say you want to decrease activity in the board, why don't you just remove it then? It looks like you're closing basically every thread in the section, there will be no activity there and no point in keeping the board. This change doesn't stop scammers at all because they can still view threads or pay 5$ to scam others.

The marketplace wasn't all about making money off OTs. I've used the marketplace mostly to save time and get PHP scripts or graphics created for me. Does anyone really think people make REAL money from the marketplace? I see a few threads with interest but people on OTLand will laugh at you of you want more then 5$/hr or ask for 100$ for a project that took months.

If you really want to kill the section and not make money off it as you said, remove it. If you wanted to stop scammers, you're approaching the situation wrong.. That's my $0.02.

Talaturen has resolved this issue with a mature and logical response. I have now changed my views and agree that otland's best interests were at heart. He stated, the market place needs to shrink not about the scammers. Znote just proposed the idea again due to the scammers, but Talaturen stated that the forum was not for auctioning copyrighted items, bots, etc. So one way to reduce the marketplace is to make it premium.

Y u make 100 threads about the marketplace, OK talaturen has chosen to not change it. ACCEPT IT!
