Yes they are, but their not needed to play at all. Since all vocations are quite well balanced without or with the items.
So don't donate if you don't want to. The money just keeps the server alive

It's well worth it And not just saying this to gain players.
But seriously it is worth it, not another one of those bugged, crashing noob servers.
Everything works, the amount of bugs is very very + very very small, If none.
