[Switzerland] [8.7] Ascalon | custom MID-EXP RPG with unique gameplay

Another "5% added, 5% taken" patch :/. In my opinion vocations should be remade. When you are nerfing knight's defence, berserkers are getting even worse. In my opinion vocs should differ more. Now you've made that global stats ("Rates are same for all vocations now."), I don't think that's a good idea, you should customize every vocation (and profession) even more. There was an idea posted on ascalon forums by Poldek (~2 months ago) about different weapons for each profession, it would help with balancing knights (ber/cru) atk/dmg, for sure. Now when I'm trying to hunt some monsters with lvl similar to mine, I'm wasting lots of money and hoping I won't get that damn Rage and die because of low def. I know it's looking like I'm just bitching when you're trying hard to make Ascalon better, but people are leaving the server for a reason. I played today for few hours and haven't seen any of my old friends online.

The whole game is based on +-%. Due to a lot of things which are affected players survivablity and attack, the difference between TOP geared players and someone who was just powerleveling until high level is too big. Vocations remade? It would be same as closing ascalon and re-opening in few months, with a new server. I spent a week, trying to get those +-5%, remaking a vocations will cost me months. If vocs will be differ more, without any balancing done now, the disbalance between good and bad vocations will go even further, I don't see how would it help if I will add even more features without refixing old ones. "Rates are same for all vocations now" - was said about ability stones, which actually affecting only max health/mana and regeneration stones. Previously, knight had way less mana from mana stone, so stone was even more useless, so I just see no point of those rates. At least now, someone can use health item(if he looted it), and actually get some benefits from that item, instead of having 3x nerfed health item which adds 50 health. Also, rage is actually lowering your incoming damage for like 6%, doubt you can die because of that. I may agree that zerkers are now way too squishy, but surely not because Rage. And yes, a lot of players quitted Ascalon and I'm trying my best to get them back.

I agree with you, remaking vocs would take lots of time, however, I think playing as knight (not berserker) was more enjoyable for me, so I'm not going lie to you that adding 5% to wpn damage, and chaning how penetration works now makes big difference for me. I'm not really PVP guy, maybe it's making bigger difference there. Berserkers are now very gear dependant. I'm still keeping my gems and ability stones for better gear because I see how hard it is to make good G7 gear later. I also don't have much money, I'm ~270 atm and have about 30cc. There are some guys winning 60cc in a single casino bet. I can afford buying runes or blesses but addon items or some donor items (warp rune 100cc) are really expensive.

And yes, a lot of players quitted Ascalon and I'm trying my best to get them back.
I think every ascalon player know how much time you're spending on making this server better. I'm just posting my feedback, if you don't want me to, I can stop any moment.

Dont forget that Priests are even more squishy than Zerkers pl0x, rerolling another voc wont be an option neither considering my main took a good 2 weeks to lvl alrdy


There was an idea posted on ascalon forums by Poldek (~2 months ago) about different weapons for each profession, it would help with balancing knights (ber/cru) atk/dmg, for sure..
And yeah I'd have to agree with this idea eventhough I brought it up in the past aswell. Something like 2H's for Zerkers, 1H's for Crusaders, stars/knives for Assassin, heavy xbows for Sharpshooters n' heavy staves for wizards, rod/wands for priests


Anyway current patch is an step in the right direction imo

Fuck I am so bored... Really wish this server would get a reset to do it justice, I wanna play another vocation but way too skeptical that this server will get its players back w/o a reset

Shut the fuck up. Man up and make a new vocation, during the first few weeks I was in top 5 and first to 200. That didn't prevent me from making a knight and getting back all my levels and still be one of the highest levels on the new char. Eventually fare buffed the previous vocation I played and I ended up with 2 level 280 chars which were both on top 10 level. You know fare will make changes if it's unbalanced right now so either shut up or go and make a new voc. And people aren't gonna come back just because of a reset, the server got problem with it's endgame maybe if that was fixed and a reset happened people would come back.
 
It aint that easy to reroll another vocation considering the tremendous amount of time it goes into making a PROPER/WAR-ABLE character with decent equipments.. And sure people would return if endgame content would be moar then again.. Dungeons got introduced so introducing new dungeon maps would bring along much more entertainment for endgame purposes.. Not to mention that pvp is what the majority of the player's focus is on aswell. (Endgame)

Motivation just lacks because it aint easy to attract and KEEP new players

pretty much off for now untill the server knows where it stands , 50-60% of players want reset , wizards 100% unbalanced while crusaders are 80-90% squishy ... unbalanced in other word , and its not the end of the patch that fare was planning , no new contant for levels 400+ which i know hes aware of ... and no body wants SoT so ill off till patch or someting new :) , but im not quitting this amazing server.

Patch 1.08

  • Raids! Yes, raids! Since now, we will constantly add new types of raids on the server, with various raid bosses who are going to drop unique loot. Right now there are just few types of those, however the core is done, and new raids will come all the time.
  • Unique item sets! With this patch we are starting to implent unique item sets which are giving unique bonuses when full set equipped. Right now, there are 4 new sets ingame. Those items are obtainable from raid and dungeon bosses.
  • Scorpion mount was added to game shop, as many players requested that.
  • Lady Bug mount is now ingame. (raid based)
  • New boss being rarely spawned in deeplings dungeon, aswell as deepling curatrix's loot was extended. Also, limit for dungeons per day was increased to 4, however now it count you one try, even if you're dying or leaving the dungeon(as previous was was abused much).
  • Manashield now becoming 15% more efficient for archers.
  • Slightly nerfed mana regeneration ability for items(back to 7 index from 9, because current regeneration rate was too high compared to mana gained from potions).
  • 20% increased armor and resistance values for all items, abilities.
  • Increased amount of mana regenerated by mana runes(nearly on all levels), aswell as slightly increased mana amount gained from spirit runes.

Well currently i think only one person has looted a part of the set. And that wasn't confirmed. But as i am aware the sets have a unique bonus different to the others (due to the rarity of them). I judge they are upgradable just the same way but need to confirm this
 
I love this server and regularly log in to see whats up & if any guildies or buddies online. But sadly, rarely.. Anyway, ive been working on this little list and figured why not post it on the thread. Its a bit outdated cuz it was made a week ago~ Honestly, with these changes it would really, truly enhance the gameplay if he'd bring along an Reset.. I am aware that Ghostx has taken part of the Ascalon's Staff which is really good. I know that there'll be positive changes especially now that he had suggested to help Fare out.. But STILL, even if you would introduce a new level cap and whatever else that is being planned.. It will simply just take tooo much time (if not impossible) for new players to come in the same league where Zawawy and those are in. They've spent a good 1-2 months on this server therefore having such a large advantage over those who will form a fresh new community aka new ppl. It wont be fun honestly. The gap is tooooooo wide/thick/large/fat // also its rather hard to imagine those ol' players returning and start to play as active as they did before. x.x


I myself have played this server seriously for quite a while and know this & that. Bringing in an reset wouldnt even be so catastrophic for those higher levels because they know the INS and OUTS of this server, therefore they will always have a certain advantage over others


Anyway, these are just my PERSONAL suggestions for an even greater server with more durability. (Please mind that the class changes is just an small portion bcus I lack knowledge regarding other classes)

-Introduce exp stages or make the current ones more serious?

-Perhaps update to an newer client like 9.6 to introduce many more mapping possibilities (Prolly a bit TOOO optimistic <hope not>)
-Add a larger variaty of difficult dungeon maps (Let the imagination run wild?)
-Reduce the amount of bonus points you get per quest. (People r lv. 450 and have already reached like 78 points in ATK, which doesnt leave much room left to grow)
-Add an proper starter's area for newcomers which Ghostx has offered to make (Something like the Isle of Destiny irl)
-Make an proper dungeon system because the current waiting list for who clicks the fastest, not really kewll (Maybe just talk to an NPC to be put in an queue, which you can check by saying Hi, Status/Queue to the NPC?)
-Lessen the bonus stats from items a bit further (As certain mages still seem to benefit a bit TOO much from the mana regen on items.. Would prefer higher base manarune heals for mages that cant afford to spend such a long time to get their full gear)
-Perhaps introduce an custom version of the Paralyze rune for pvp enhancement (so Priests got an possibility to "Slow/Paralyze" players)
-Give the speed cap at an earlier level (I used to be lv. 340 n' didnt reach my speed cap <999> unless i'd use Swiftness Ring or ate an fish)
-Remove speed bonus from the fish (because you'd be pretty much forced to use fish 24/7 <especially if you reach the speed cap at such an late lvl)
-Put an small delay between each use of the fishing rod? (Spamming is so cliché ;P)
-Use more custom sprites for those major bosses (Would make the serv more unique n' fun for newcomers imo)
-Make the damage difference between priests and wizards minor aka not as large (You dont see a massive difference between druids/sorcs on real tibia neither besides the sorcs having better variaty of waves and spell effects that hit more monsters in general)
-Make the mage's gameplay a bit more versatile/active by introducing a custom set of waves/beams and putting them on their original cooldowns perhaps?




-Remove the 1.5 sec stun that you can get from Crepitus Gelu? (Perhaps use 1.5 sec freeze in exchange, same as Priests)(1.5 sec stun too OP for pvp situations lol)
-Not allowing Mas Ress to affect enemies if you're in either CTF or Warmode
-Put UE on a 6/8 sec cooldown and introduce an stronger single target spell along with it (So mage's do not have to spam ue to get the most damage output, which is quite simpleeeeee/boring)
-Increase the amount of mana given by the mage's manarune by an small margin (1.4k just really isnt enough, there is no way you'll have your full set before lv. 350 therefore making the lv. 300 manarune heal quite low considering people outdamage that by a good 75%)

I only recommend adding the majority of these suggestions if Fare would bring along an reset though. You can be ignorant about it, but we all know that this server has much more potential than what it is showing at this stage.

I agree with Records on some parts. I can't speak on behalf of the PVP because I'm still getting the levels. But I agree with the section about maps, and new sprites. I mean there are some in now, it just doesn't seem like enough for a custom client. Like There could be so much done that wouldn't be terribly hard. Just a little bit more time consuming. And I know how hard it is to find time for something else when you've got the whole project to consider. But If you can't keep people interested then is there really a point? Just my opinions though. Sorry if I offended.
 
Could anyone tell me more about Ascalon's dungeons? Unfortunately I don't have the time to level a character on Ascalon to find out about them myself. Are there perhaps pictures or maybe even a video of one of them?

100% agree, some monsters deserve second spawn on map or at least expanding previous spawns (e.g. vampires, those are pretty good monsters to hunt at my level [because they don't keep the distance and don't silence me like lizards]).

I disagree. I think every profession should be different. Priests should be support/heal and wizards should be support/dmg.

I agree but I think every voc. needs that. Playing as berserker is also getting boring, I'm just using F1 > wait 1 sec > F2 > wait 1 sec > F1 > ...

I also agree with rest of your ideas.
