Since everyone seems to be building servers these day I might as well build one too, although I can't compile the latest distro I'll just use the latest nightly's for now til I buy hosting and am able to compile it myself.

The direction I will be going with this project is uncertain but I will be using some of the latest and missing or out of date events and a few of my own that I have had always wanted to build.
I've been alive longer than most of you (no offense) and have been playing games for most of my life.. so hopefully the life experience will count for something :p

Vocations:
Since the goal of this server is uncertain I will be playing around with a few ideas of my own and some I have seen on these forums.

Quests:
As far as I've seen when it comes to ot's you go out and kill a few monsters and come back to receive a reward of gold or experience, or you make your way through a dungeon to loot an item.
This is nice but not very creative.

Content:
Although it will be difficult I will attempt to make quests, events, vocations & every other aspect of the game tie into one another.

Mapping
This will be a tough one as it is very time consuming and really not my strong suite, I have an idea how I can get away with building a relatively nice looking map without the need to spend a lot of time on it.
No I will not being using a real life map or an evo or any pre-made map.

AAC
I plan to write my own from scratch & possibly release it to the community with the structure of a module based layout in mind.

This may take me a year or more but at least I'll have something to do :)

More power to you broham! Anarchy OT started in 09 and it's on the 100th version, and has yet to see a public release lmao!

I recommend taking some courses in video game development. Specifically in design (not the art, but the way the game will work, etc.)
It really gives you good insight on what is good and what is not. It will help you to develop a solid pipeline and stick to it from the beginning, to avoid the issue Taffy mentioned, which I think all of us have experienced to a degree :p

I did a 3 year college diploma in video game design and development and it has really opened my eyes to the best ways I can develop. I'm sure there's some good free courses available online

Day 1:
Going to start building my libraries of custom Metatables to handle all sorts of functionality as I would like not to rely solely on source edits and besides my c++ is a little rusty :p
