I have no ide how it is right now, but "back in the days" debug ment that it would tell you when it did major things, ex.
Things like that.
But could also mean that it's compiled to give you crash logs, depends on how it's compiled etc.
Release means that you have the bare bone program, no testings etc etc and that it what you should use.
