Hello, I was just wondering why my thread got deleted from support section? I don't think I broke any rules.

Thread Title: Modern AAC Trouble. Rep ++

In the thread I was asking for help with Modern AAC because I kept running into walls trying to set everything up.

I know that the titles need to be clear and to the point, but my problems were not 2 word questions. Plus I believe that I made it clear in the title that I needed help with something specific instead of "help Rep ++" or "Help meh!"

Thanks.

"server/website trouble REP++" = "help plx REP++".

and it belonged to requests.

So if I take out the Rep ++, it would belong in supports???

If not.. here are a few more that should be deleted..

These are ALL threads in SUPPORT section... And, if I am not being rude....

What is the difference between "Support" and "Requests"?

I have read the rules and everything...

I'd like to add something, because it isn't clear yet to some people that post here

Thread titles like:
- "Help!"
- "Help plx!"
- "Help plx rep++!"
- "Help I giff rep fast plx!"
- "Look here pls"
- "Bug"
- "Error"

- and every other single thread named without describing the problem will get deleted, without further notice.
- also please note that you are not allowed to address specific users in your thread name, eg "Cykotitan please help me!"

This has become a real plague here so I'll be giving warnings and possibly infractions for those who are frequently breaking these rules.

I am not being rude... But those threads all violate the above rules in one way or another.

I don't want to tell you how to do your job. But if you are going to pick and choose which ones you want to delete and which ones you don't, it is really not going to help anything out. People will post shit on the forums based on what they see... I saw a post saying Modern AAC Problem... So I made a thread called Modern AAC Trouble Rep ++. Saying "Help Rep ++" Is nothing like saying Modern AAC Trouble Rep ++...

with my title, it clearly states what I am having trouble with.

Well, that's why there's a report button!

Thanks for reporting those threads.

x.x You still didn't answer my question...

I need help with Modern AAC... I thought "Support" would be the proper place... But You said I need to put it in "Requests"...

When I hear support, it sounds like go here if you need help or to help some one...

When I hear request, it sounds like go here if you want something (script/map/lua) or if you can make something for someone... such as someone needs an NPC script so they request it...

What is the difference between the 2?

Support is most likely used to help people(or get help) with scripts/servers/websites/etc errors.
Request is used to request scripts or request something to be added into a script/server/etc

I don't want to keep this going any further but one last question...

Why did my thread belong to request??

I have modern AAC set up, I just needed help changing where modern AAC saves info into the database...

I believe it said

"Modern AAC saves the account name of a new account under DB -> Accounts -> name

I am trying to get it to save under DB -> Accounts -> id"

Edit: When you say "most likely", does that mean you aren't sure??? or you are just taking an educated guess??

I found this in the request section...

About Requests and Support

Hello!

Lately there have been a lot of support-related threads in this section where people have been asking for assistance with their problems. This section is characteristic for requests only thus making support-related threads not properly-posted here. If you'd like to ask for support then you should use the support board which is located here: Support

Please let's keep our forum clean. This section should only be used for requests of, for an example scripts you are unable to create or find.

Yours,
Deavz.

After reading that... I really don't know what was wrong with my thread that got it deleted. I would like a very clear and detailed explanation as to what exactly I did wrong and why it was wrong. I deserve at least that for getting my thread deleted.

You guys should really make a global sticky explaining the difference clearly and accurately... so that we can post in the right place and not get our stuff deleted because it wastes our time and yours...

Thanks.

Yeah this quickly becomes a brainscratcher, even for moderators. :p

Reading the Support section stickies often helps out a bit on the understanding:
http://otland.net/f16/need-help-ask-properly-correctly-18402/
http://otland.net/f16/regarding-requests-read-before-posting-38521/

You are requesting a modification to Modern AAC ---> Requests
You need help understanding an Modern AAC error, like etc you cant connect to DB, cant install properly --> Support

Either way, you are basically asking for help, thus confuses people into knowing wether it fits support or request.

I also tend to do such mistakes.
However I dont feel the need to complain about it... If thread gets deleted its pretty much a verification that something is wrong, and should enforce you to taste the stickies and look for optional routes.
We are very kind when it comes to moderating these threads. We usually delete them without giving any warnings or infractions. So its really not a big deal.

Request section is for download stuff and your thread is clearly for support section. Dunno why did it get deleted. Maybe the content of it, is something why it got deleted.

This is the important part of the message he had in his topic:

1. When a new player creates an account, I want the account name to save under the table 'id' AND 'name'
2. After a player creates the account, when they click on "Create Character", I only want them to see 1 vocation. Not all 4. I've been messing with this for the past 3 hours now and its getting on my nerves haha

3. When a player deletes a character, I want MAAC to actually delete the char from the database. Not just the char list. If possible, have a timer like delete the char in 24 hrs or so.

This is clearly a request

I apologize. I worded my thread differently than I expected. Now I know :) it shouldn't happen again. Sorry for the complaint thread. Please close this if you can.
