Tibia and Open Tibia have been around for quite some time now, and some of us have been around for many years; some even from the beginning. A lot us grew up playing Tibia and have experienced the changes throughout the years, both within the OT community and Cipsoft. Tibia itself is very different now compared to how some of us remember it, and Open Tibia has developed extremely: pretty much everything is available for you today, completely free and with very few limits, if any.

What I'd like to hear from you guys, is your story and how you feel about the changes and advances made under all these years; you do not need to just bring up the bad changes, you could share some nostalgic moments as well. You do not need to stick to any specific angle of it all, share away whatever as long as it involves Tibia or OT. Here are some questions you could answer if you don't know where to start, these are in no way mandatory, but a way to sort out your thoughts :)

Tibia & OT - General
When did you get introduced to Tibia, respectively OT?

What made you stick around, alternatively drew your interest?

Has the game or OT in particular introduced you to a new interest, for example: programming?

Is there something you miss that Tibia or OT does not have anymore?

What milestones do you remember, good or bad, for example: hotkey introduction, first major distribution, etc.

Do you still find joy in playing Tibia or developing(mapping, scripting, etc.)?

Any special memory you have to share?

Tibia & OT - Playing
Do you remember the first time you played Tibia and how it went?

Do you have an Open Tibia server you play/played that you really enjoyed?

What are you looking for in an OT server?

Do you prefer the slow kind of OT servers where reaching lvl 100 takes a while, or where lvl 100 can be reached after say 30 hours of playing time?

What aspects of the game attracts you the most? are they not available anymore?

What's your stance on bots; is there a difference between cave botting and using "auto-aimers"?

If you use a bot to play: could imagine playing without it, if you found a fun server where the hunting aspect of the server isn't that important, the aim of the server is mainly to provide some fun hours of hard and fun quests?

OT - Development & Misc
Did you find it hard to find out how things worked?

Is there any skill you have picked up since you started out in the OT community?

Do you still develop?

How do you feel about the general "give me give me, for free" attitude?

Is money ruining Open Tibia or are people just unwilling to contribute or learn anything, so the developers start charging?

Have you owned a server and if so: how did it go?

Hosting with a computer at home seems to be rare these days, do you find it necessary to pay for a dedicated server at the first phase of the server launch?

DDOS attacks seem to be rather popular now, everyone is pretty much able to ruin a server with limited funds, how do you feel about this?

Are things possibly too available today for everyone that no one bothers to learn?

What's your take on the future of OT?

Hey there. That's some interesting thread which just pumped up really many moments from the days before

Tibia & OT - General

When did you get introduced to Tibia, respectively OT?

I don't know exactly, but it was at my school time when I was about 11 years old. That would be somewhere before Client 7.0 ?

What made you stick around, alternatively drew your interest?

Some friends played Tibia and have already been level 40, so they kinda helped me out getting started to everything

Has the game or OT in particular introduced you to a new interest, for example: programming?

Yes, me and my friends started a server back then with client 7.4 with custom map and custom scripts by my brother. example: clicking on a stone to buy a bp UH. chest event, about every 2 hours a chest spawned to loot and rank systems (WoW copies, both)
awesome

Is there something you miss that Tibia or OT does not have anymore?

The community. Todays community is just toxic. DDOSing everywhere and shitting on heads.

What milestones do you remember, good or bad, for example: hotkey introduction, first major distribution, etc.

Battle system and runes. It was so awesome to battle others on OT with runes (before it was just spells)

Do you still find joy in playing Tibia or developing(mapping, scripting, etc.)?

Just lurking around on some oldschool servers, but mostly just for fun, cause as older we get, as much things we have to get done and there is no time

Any special memory you have to share?

This server, where you spawned on a island with premade chars. You logged in, died in a 1 sec by others ueing. It was so shit dieng every 5 secs, but somehow I sticked hours to this server. Haha

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tibia & OT - Playing

Do you remember the first time you played Tibia and how it went?

As I wrote before, when I was a kid. I logged in, hunted some rats and got stuck in a hole with a ladder. Yes my folks, i didnt know how to get out of this hole with the ladder. Awesome

Do you have an Open Tibia server you play/played that you really enjoyed?

What was it called, Brabexa? 7.1, best ever. And ofc the yurots, so much fun

What are you looking for in an OT server?

Mostly fun, remembering old moments when I hunt somewhere. Live in nostalgic.

Do you prefer the slow kind of OT servers where reaching lvl 100 takes a while, or where lvl 100 can be reached after say 30 hours of playing time?

I would prefer servers with low exp 2x-3x, but mostly because of no time I am playing mid/high-rates, but I am not enjoying this kind of servers much

What aspects of the game attracts you the most? are they not available anymore?

RPG with an awesome community back then. Sadly this times are gone

What's your stand on bots; is there a difference between cave botting and using "auto-aimers"?

I abominate every kind of bot

If you use a bot to play: could imagine not using a bot to play if you found a fun server where the hunting aspect of the server isn't that important, the aim of the server is mainly to provide some fun hours of hard and fun quests?

I can't imagine that, because I never ever used a bot. Sure some won't believe this

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

OT - Development & Misc

Did you find it hard to find out how things worked?

Well, I mostly didn't develop anything except simple things like xml and some help on map

Is there any skill you have picked up since you started out in the OT community?

Yes, know how things works, how the system is build and of course experience in the game itself

Do you still develop?

--

How do you feel about the general "give me give me, for free" attitude?

Well it was always good to share progress with the community back then, because it helped build OT what it is today.

Is money ruining Open Tibia or are people just unwilling to contribute or learn anything, so the developers start charging?

I can understand it somehow. Hosting is expensive today. Back then you were able to host a little server on your own computer and hold it on some hours a day and still people enjoyed the server -- WITHOUT blaming. Can't imagine that anymore

Have you owned a server and if so: how did it go?

Yes, a 7.4, 7.5 and 7.6 server with friends, with custom map, scripts etc. It was pretty good for my feelings, just 20-30 people playing but back then it was much

Hosting with a computer at home seems to be rare these days, do you find it necessary to pay for a dedicated server at the first phase of the server launch?

I think today you should rent a dedicated to pleasure every kind of player. Back in the days it was not necessary

DDOS attacks seem to be rather popular now, everyone is pretty much able to ruin a server with limited funds, how do you feel about this?

That's the proof how toxic this community got with 8.0+ upgrades. Too much kids around to annoy everyone

Are things possibly to available today for everyone that no one bothers to learn?

I think this is the success of OpenTibia which everyone thought of back in the days. Everything free for everyone, atleast stable things.
But somehow click & run opens too much possiblities of scams and wastes

What's your take on the future of OT?

I don't know? Lurking around oldschool servers. I will never play new tibia.
New tibia has died for me
