Time to make Otland shine again?

Another thing that probably makes people quit is that no server is "good" anymore if you don't have dedicated server with 999999gb/s DDos protection or the server is "shit". I remember the good old days when you could host a server on your home pc at certain times and still the server was really populated. sigh

It is kind of simple.
2 things happened to kill Otland.

1) Forums Upgraded. Yes it is technically better, but no one cares about stability and security, we lost a ton of features and the look and feel of otland.

2) TFS Upgraded to 1.0. Yes it is technically better, but no one cares about stability and security, we lost a ton of features and the easiness of creating a unique server died with this new version.

People were comfortable and otland felt like home, they had grown used to the way things were and how easy it was to find and do things on the forums and with TFS.

It would be like if someone tore your house down, and rebuilt a bigger better house with a better security system, but you lost all of your furniture, and now you don't like being home because it's just a empty house with nothing to do.

Also, what's up with TFS 1.0? Is it done? I know that you can download it at github but it seems like there's no one using it.

No one is using it because you can basically only run RL Tibia maps on it with no extra features.

It is specifically designed to mimic Cipsoft's server, and does not have the possibility of new and exciting concepts or features.

Hello everyone,

ive noticed to little activety in otland, no more scripts requests or other requests. So what have happend?

Dont say tibia or ot is dieing it has same amout of players these past years and its 20k+

What do you think the reason is, why otland is dieing. I thought about release rl map 10.1 based on 1.0
why i will release?
Bcz it may bring back memebers back and asking for help and etc....

@Mark killed otland cuz of the forum share with shadowcore/lunarforce. To many fucktards spamming about DELETE THIS. DELETE THAT

Haha don't know about that, though it is annoying that all of those posts are mixed in with the "New Posts" when I'm looking for otland related material.

Well what i said is true, It takes to long to go to every board and look, So you go to New posts and look there. But no fuck that, Its im possibruuuuuu cuz of the spam

Well I honestly think the reason for people leaving otland as said many times before; They leave cause they simply grow up. This is how it works, some people may have just gotten tired/gotten a job/they might go school and might not have time for otland right now. But the good thing is that there always comes new people interested in tibia and theres a huge chance that those who already left otland will come back.

Personally I think it is time to evolve the OT community and start taking steps away from Tibia, and begin making a better and more advanced Server, Client, and Map Editor with more advanced features and possibilities. So when you are making a server it is easier to realize your ideas and create something new, exciting, and fun.

I'm working on the TFS, and Map Editor right now. :p
I haven't really worked on Clients much, but I have grown pretty adept at doing anything I want with the sources of TFS

As for the map editor, I want to be able to have waypoints for monsters when they spawn, so they "patrol" and npcs and such, along with the option of "spawn only in day/night" and there will be the option to add in "monster levels" and pick the monster level range in the map editor.

@Flatlander - Do you have an estimated time of release? What you are describing sounds like the revolution for game servers.

Sorry, I'm not very good at keeping schedules. I work full time, and I still play video games myself, plus I watch way too much anime.
But I do have a passion for developing new things, and I am a perfectionist so I will make everything the "right" way and without bugs.

Hopefully Spring 2014 I will be far enough into making it to release it to the public (it will always be missing features, because nothing is ever perfect)

My extremely long-term dream would be to have a client, server, and map editor that all are made to work together.
I would want the Client to be Multi-Purpose so you could use it for all servers, maybe even having a built-in "OtServList" with favorites and a cross-server friend's list.
I would want the map editor to take all the requests that I've seen from mappers, and also make it easier to add in new sprites/monsters/npcs and make your own brushes right in the editor.

But all of that is just a dream, for now I will work on a TFS version that expands on what is possible currently.

@Flatlander
what features do you mean? the ones that u asked on github?

I've added 'em to my server, but I don't know if i should make a pull request...

ive tried also thing to give people a little boost in knowledge and forget their lazyness..
i hope my server is done before tibia is dead

You see a dead corpse it is recognized as cipsoft. Yes it is 5000oz of shit.
