People themselves should change their attitude a bit. What I mean by this is:
- Don't be lazy or shy to post on any thread. Post wherever you feel you could say or contribute something.
- Don't be lazy or afraid to partake in a project, if there are projects looking for members - apply, if there are none that you like, try to start your own team or even work on your own and see how far that goes.
- Improve your skills in any OT Dev. branch at least 1 hour daily so you can make yourself useful and contribute to this community either by releasing scripts/maps/sprites or helping some project to get finished.
- Always keep in mind that good things take a lot of effort, so don't give up on things if it gets tough.
- Don't be in it for the money. Let your creativity and content from your imagination and not from greed, and everyone will enjoy it much better.
I agree with this, but I don't think it has much to do with being lazy, shy or afraid to post.
I think alot of people are waiting for the Lua and other script tags to come back or other changes and are meanwhile less active.
And like Flatlander mentioned, TFS 1.0 is a great server for real tibia servers or servers with similar scripts and features. But when it comes to creating custom servers with all kinds of unique features, alot of that isn't possible in TFS 1.0.
They would still have to use TFS 0.3/0.4, what brings alot of confusion to people because almost everyone is saying that everyone should use TFS 1.0 and that the TFS 0.3/0.4 servers are bad, unstable and slow servers and everyone should stop using them.
What I also noticed in the last couple of months, something that is already going on for years but seems like getting worse in some boards, is a disrespectful attitute from people towards people they don't know or are not well known in the community.
Like in the Mapping Showoff.
I'm not just talking about comments like: "Quit mapping", but also comments that are some how seen as serious criticism.
For example comments like: "The details are horrible, stones don't fit, bad squary shape and the bordering is just autobordered shit."
Vague comments like this aren't helping anyone and are nothing more than an insult, still I see people defending such posts by saying people should learn to take criticism, else they will never learn how to map.
But there is no one who will think: "Ok, so for my next map I should make my details less horrible, use stones in a way so they fit, make the shape less bad and don't make my bordering look like autobordered shit anymore."
They just leave and I have seen this happening over and over.
And besides that, it also still seems to be more important to be better than someone else, instead of just creating playable maps and helping eachother.
Ranking people as "the best" and giving people the feeling they are not good enough to create a map for a server or that other people will just do it better so they can better give up on mapping.
This also makes people quit with their project or not decide to join one.
Before people are getting the wrong idea what I'm trying to say with this, I'm not saying that it's some kind of evil place. I've met alot of great people there and had alot of fun, specialy with those live mappings and I'm not discouraging people to go there. But it's just to bad seeing so many people leave, quit or loose their motivation because of this, what also has effect on the activity there and projects that end up dieing or people not joining them and it would be good if people would be more friendly to them.
I don't see less activity in the Support board btw, There are so much new threads that when I come home from school, my last post is often already on the second page and I still have daily about the same amount of pms from people who need help.
I also see alot of new people helping alot in Support and making tutorials. There are suddenly alot of compiling tutorials, which is great, because alot of people had problems with that.
