Depends on what server your using now and what you want to update it to, if you have any custom scripts or monsters then you will need to update them.

Sure I don't see why not, there might be small issues with the map but you should be ok
There is 1 other thing tho, if the map contains unique id's or action ids, those you would have to remove because they may not work with the new server, but honestly i don't much about the map :p

Okay, I mean, if something like that did go wrong it wouldn't be such a problem. My map isn't very big yet. Has mostly only spawns. When updating, what is the Map version? Should that go hand and hand with the Client version?

Yes, make a backup of your map before you upgrade it, then load up the server to see if your able to login and run around.
