Hi there fellow otmaggotz.
I need some serious helping/guiding with updating a server from 8.5 to 8.6.
I know a lot of people can do this fairly easy and I got a proposal for you if you help me.

However this kind of problem is something I would like to deal with in a realtime chat so please send me a private message and I Will contact you about what I have to offer in return.

The server is based on 0.3.6 and I only want to change the client from 8.5 to 8.6.
If you think you can help me with it then please send me a message as mentioned above.

Yeah I got a server which is 8.6, also 0.3.6 but the server i got right now is 8.50 with a lot of custom items/scripts etc. I dont know how that works, I mean I barely know scripting and you guys say "just update your scripts" like its a piece of cake, but that would take me weeks...

And btw I already knew this guide but this was not what I'm looking for.

So its not possible to use my old 8.5 map/npcs/scripts on a 8.6 server which is compiled from the same server version?

You can use the data folder of the 8.6 server and only add your own added scripts and change the custom items in items.xml etc.

So this is what I should do?

1. Copy the new 8.6 data folder and replace my old one (keeping the exe and .dlls?)
2. Replace the new map with my old map (maybe needs to be re-saved in map editor?)
3. Insert my old talkactions/npcs/movements etc since they will work?
4. Start the server using my old .exe and everything and I'm good to go?

(I will try as soon as I get home from work)

No, use the exe, config and all other files/folders of the 8.6 server.
You can use your 8.5 data folder, but then some scripts won't work properly and you will have missing items/monsters because of the 8.6 client.
So what you can do is use the 8.6 data folder and just add your own added scripts, they should work fine if they aren't based on the 8.5 client since it's the same version (0.3.6).

You don't have to update the map, but if you want to update it to 8.6 for the 8.6 items, open the map in Remere, go to Map, Properties, Client Version 8.6.
