What is Sonia?
Sonia is an 8.54 server that is running on a 100MB/100MB dedicated server. It is entirely lag and kick free and so far has maintained over 95% uptime. The server is a constantly developing creation, it updates every week with new monsters, spells, and items.
XP/Skill Rates:
The server uses three xp stages.
- levels 8 to 49 = 4x
- levels 50 to 75 = 3x
- levels 75+ = 2x
- 20x Skill
- 30x Magic Level
The community of Sonia is very active and becoming more so every day. One of the largest parts of the server is the forums. Since the launch of the server on March 1st there have been over 1800 forum posts. Some of the forum categories include:
- News and Development: Find out what the latest news is on the next patch.
- Trade: Offer your items for trade and find out what other players have for sale.
- Suggestions: We take all your suggestions seriously and you will see that every thread has had its suggestions looked at, many of which were added in previous patches.
- Screenshots / Videos: So many players love to share their success in hunts and events. This is a great board to share your experiences.
- Bug Reports: We like to keep the server running as smoothly as possibly, so any bugs can be reported here. They are then put on a priority list and taken care of as quickly as possible.
In addition, the server boasts two more interesting features:
- Sonia Wiki: A player-constructed wiki on many spells and creatures of Sonia.
- Sonia Chat: Another player initiative. This chat is very useful in communicating with players off of the forums or when the server is down for maintenance, or just to chat with a server developer.
In addition to those features, we have 5 tutors, 2 of which are on at all times. These tutors are educated in all the details of the server and are always happy to help new players.
Website:
The website is a major part of the server. It contains all the latest news, patch notes, and an archive to all previous news stories. This allows you to check and see how the server has changed over time.
In addition to the above, the website also features a website which contains all spells, armor sets, weapons, bosses, and more information. This allows for all players to be able to lookup what creatures they should hunt to get the items they want.
The website will soon be undergoing an overhaul that will add highscores, show which GMs/Tutors are online, which players are online, and much more.
VIP Items/Services:
Most servers suffer from some form of corruption or another. Here at Sonia we try to find the perfect balance of donors and free players. While we do offer some items for sale on the site, we will never offer all items on the site. For example, you may buy the best helmet in the game online, but you'll have to play the game in order to get the best chest piece.
We also offer other interesting services such as custom houses, and outfits. We also recently added a VIP island key, which allows access to all vip spawns and creatures.
Our idea is that it will never be necessary to purchase a single thing on the site, however it could make your game experience much more fun.
Calendar / Events:
Another interesting feature of Sonia is that we offer several weekly events, as many as 5 in a single week. The calendar (another part of the website) shows the dates of when all events take place. These events range from freebie hand out events, to monster raids, to arena challenges, and even double experience days.
New Players:
As a new player, you are protected until level 25 from any and all pvp damage. In addition, to help you level there are guides available to you on our website, and even on the sonia wiki. The game is designed to be very easy as you start and then become more challenging as you progress through the server.
Custom Map
The map is 100% custom. The map is designed to be interesting and unique. A feature we tried to include into this map is not only that players walk across the map, but move up and down it as well using elevation.
Custom Spells
We also offer a list of custom spells that make this server unique:
- Delayed Blast: Sends out a ring of energy followed by a powerful explosion.
- Mire: Poisonous explosions keep players and monsters clear of this druid.
- Jump Slash: Leap at your target attacking several times, then jumping back to your original position.
- Vigor: Heal yourself every second for 20 seconds, helping to keep the druid alive.
- Star Storm: Shread enemies as you toss throwing stars in every direction around you.
- Flame Drive: The sorcerer charges the target and strikes several times with fire attacks.
