1.- OTA RME
but, yes, we could say that it is the most archived "active” one (for tfs).

1.1 OTA ZONES

some made modifications like zones,
which for some reason did not fork to the ota repository.
(requires server side modification)
until this is clarified Compiling - Compiling RME cant open otbm (https://otland.net/threads/compiling-rme-cant-open-otbm.292983/)
for now, I will not recommend it

2.- Canary RME
there is also canary, which uses assets (protobuf), uses clientId , zones and at least has a relatively active community.

3.- RME AI

Others buy a Cursor subscription and make AI-generated modifications, which are very unstable and full of bugs. The last time I tried it, rme crashed every second when using Live. I heard comments that it corrupted the map, but that didn’t happen to me.
And most likely, eventually in the future, he'll charge a 30-day license for that shit made with ai

4. in development

there are some that are in development.
not sure if they will make it open sourcer

4.1- tenlil he is using as a base OTC redemption

4.2.- therealezzz in Qt.

in short :
  • if you use tfs use OTA RME,
  • if you use canary use Canary RME

It would be great if someone could make Canary's Map Editor compatible with TFS and clients below 11.0.

In my experience, Canarys mapeditor is much easier and smoother to work with compared to other map editors. The interface is clean, it supports one-click export to .otmm minimap files, and overall the workflow feels more efficient.

Unfortunately, I'm currently using a TFS server and can't get it to work with Canary. Like with most tools, compatibility depends on the protocol and engine you're using.

Still, for mapping with 11+ clients, Canary is definitely the best editor I've used so far. Would be awesome to see broader support in the future.

thx Im gonna test all of them out ^^.

, What I meant is that Canary has a much smarter and more user-friendly GUI for certain mapping functions – that's where the real difference lies.
For example:
  • When you go to a position by coordinates, it highlights the exact tile with a square, making it super easy to see the exact border visually.
  • Pressing the P key instantly takes you to the correct floor and position, without needing to manually change floors every time.
  • Exporting the full minimap is also very convenient – it can be done in one click (e.g. using Gesior's method), so that's not really a limitation either.
I even tried to isolate and extract just the UI part from Canary. If I only knew which source file handles the GUI and what layout and dependence source files layout, I’d try to port it to a compatible RME editor – but yeah, it's beyond me at this point 😅,

Well if gonna use that AI made one editor, u should really use a backup on ur project xDD

So basically, the situation with map editors for TFS isn’t great
The situation is great, stable and does what it is expected to do. Not everything has to be constantly updated. It is finished product.

well if u tried Canarys mapeditor for client wich sad is for client 11 only and its not compatible for tfs, then u know that it has to be updated, wich im tryin to but non success for now ^^
