What makes an oldschool server successful and interesting?

I haven't played any old school ots in a while but one that I enjoyed and I think others did aswell was MasterCores, you should go check it out...

You didn't really answer his question.

Honestly I don't think there was much difference between old school servers and the newer ones. I just feel maybe the old school servers were simpler, which made it easy to learn and play.
