What makes people in my country stupid?

Most of our schools here in chile start up at 8:00 and end up at 4:30 (in average) excluding extra training, after you are in school under stressfull conditions of almost no relaxation periods or time to think, you have to do the most stupid test ever, the PSU; this, to evaluate your learning through your school years, then if you demonstrate you where a willing servant of the educational system; you will be able to go to a university where the levels of stress are intolerable for some people.
Im pissed because now i compare it to Italy for example:
You start at 8:30 and end up at 13:00 pm, you don't have to do the PSU or some stupid test to enter an university, the universities difficulty is far lower than the one of this fucking country.

Now i have realised most people in my country are ignorant fucks, while in europe they have goods amount of knowledge regarding science, history and politics, this is because when your so fucking stressed while going to school you don't have time to search for things you find interesting, or search for new theories regarding reality... i see the drecrease in my creativity when i go to much time to school, until you end up living a life based on instincts and obeying orders.

Just had to say this shit since our country is far lower in development than most countries and this in part is because of the education we receive, fuck this shit.
 
In Belgium we start about at 8:15
end at 16:00, and if you go to the afterschool stuff
it might take you untill 18:00 to get home...
after school i'm like "fuck it, screw school imma read the things and make things i need for the next day and the rest of the time i'll be doing shit"
 
In America here, many people just get the high school diploma and get a job. People also go to college to fulfill the American Dream.
Nobody here gives a shit about science and history. Everything is about medical science, marketing and politics.

I have not checked the list regarding smartest countries, but I wouldn't be surprised if we're not in the top 10.

Anyways, i dont really know if there are that many stupid people in my country, i think that we are pretty smart.
 
In New Zealand, we goto school from 8:40am until 3:15pm, there are 4 terms per year that run for 11 weeks averagely and between each term we get a 2 week break.
From year 11-13 (senior years) there are 3 Levels you need to pass If you want to get into a university.

NCEA Level One: 80 Credits (incl. 8 Reading+Writing English credits), Numeracy (Math, 12 credits+)
NCEA Level Two: 60 Credits (incl. 8 Reading+Writing English credits), Numeracy (Math, 12 credits+)
NCEA Level Three: 60 Credits (incl. 8 Reading+Writing English credits), Numeracy (Math, 12 credits+)

I'm a year 13 student so this is my final year at college. I have 176 NCEA credits in total, not sure how many are level ones, twos, threes.
I know I have NCEA Level One, not entirely sure about 2.

But universities here require that you have atleast Numeracy, Literacy. If you apply for a job you will need both numeracy and literacy so without having either it's near impossible to get a job or get into university here unless you're a hooker or something.

What I do laugh at is our University/Tertiary education costs.
Lets say the diploma/degree you want to get is a Computer Administration Diploma.

for an NZ citizen this will probably cost $5,000.00 NZD whereas for an international student (asians n shit) would cost them about $17,000.00 NZD ;D

in poland 8:00-14/16:00 after all sections of school, primary, mid age, high school, university etc we need to pass exams. For me its normal ofc in primary and mid age are just formality and it dont really affect you in future choosing school. final exams in high school are required to pass in way to go for university and further.

For me its best way to test our knowledge and dont let morons etc stole our university places, which are ofc limited.

Im not saying we shouldn't have education, im saying it's just to stressfull and does not leave you personal time here unlike other countries where school ends up at 1-2am
Lets put as an example universities, they're way more difficult than school since you learn way more but you only spend like 3 hours max in classes there while in school we spend 8 hours max wich is crazy...
 
I want to participate in thread but haven't really thought about downsides in Norway too much. After 10th grade of basic school it is optional if you want to continue for highschool. And there are tons of optional highschools available so you can choose what interests you, and after high school you can almost completely focus on teaching what you want during university. Also getting a job is piece of cake, you don't need to go to university to get a decent paid job. Finding a job in Norway is easy as pie. Everyone can easy get one. Only the most attracting and best paid off jobs require university degree. This summer I am going on university learning Java, php, sql, c++.

However last year of high school (for the education I want[which is optional]) is a pain in the ass. School starts 08:15, ends 16:00 mon-fri and a shitloads of homework. But I bite the dust until I get off high school and starts university. :P

The funny thing, the high school degree that I get that is "required" for me to enter university, is completely off-topic to my programming studies I am going to take. 90% of what I learn this year is totally useless for me and will never be used again. You dont need to learn Norwegian or world history to be a c++ programmer.

Medias influence, Norwegians "lack on knowledge outside the box" and categorising groups because of a few persons is our biggest downside I guess. My girlfriend refuses to travel to india because its "always thunder" there and "lots of slutty hookers" and "thiefs". Because she only listens to the media and categorises everyone upon what she sees.

You have explained everything that is wrong with America. Media says we're fat, media says we're stupid, media says we're corrupt; but it's like that everywhere else in the world.
Everyone knows about it here in USA because of the media here. If there were more media in other places in the world, then I'm sure they would be in the same situation as the US.
Let me give you an example, people rip on America for producing kids like Justin Bieber, but he wasn't born in the US, he's not even a citizen of the US. But the US media mass markets the hell out of him that everyone considers him as an American.
The media has brainwashed everyone in the world.
 
People in my country spend around 25 years of their life studying but end up doing a small job where their degree is hardly used. American students are far more lucky . Once you made it to the university , you are sure to be employed.

Keep dreaming. I heard someday this week an economist from USA talking about investing in studies... and guess what he said? "It's not worth it." But hey, that's his opinion, of course his opinion has to be based on something (he's an Economist, not flaite1 posting random thoughts) but you get the point. Plus, I don't really care if it's worth or not. I'll do what I like the most.
